"Mall Ninja"??

This whole thing was started as a reaction to a real person, who worked security in a mall and posted various delusional rantings, including lurid details of how he wore multiple trauma plates to resist multiple .308 hits while taking out the garbage. That sort of thing. I wish I could remember his name....

Look to the posting above yours.

Okay, this is what I'm looking for. I've seen a few posts about Strider folders being labeled as Mall Ninja. Can someone elaborate because I own two and find them to be very useful EDCs. Although I'm not a fan of the Tiger Striping on the blade of one of them, it doesnt' affect use at all.

Those people are jealous that they can't afford one.

Just read the Gecko45 archived thread and i couldnt stop laughing:D...

Seriously though....that guy has some mental issues. Too much funny stuff to quote!

He also has a female partner, who works with him as a team when required. They may BREED. :(

Best part was about the electric golf-carts modified to carry shrike missiles :D.

Anybody ever find out what kinda blade(s) he used to pack :D?

Just read that post about Gecko45. I now fully understand what makes a person a Mall Ninja. That was hilarious by the way, and I wish I was able to read the whole thread. Some of what they said to that guy in response had to be priceless.

So now I know exactly what makes one a Mall Ninja, but am still a bit confused about what makes a knife a Mall Ninja knife. Also, I'm assuming just because someone would buy a Fantasy type knife doesn't automatically make them a Mall Ninja. If they carry it for the purpose of defense then he/she would be a Mall Ninja. Right?

I asked what makes a knife considered Mall Ninja.

The answer is pretty simple- any knife that is disliked by the person who labels it a "mall ninja" knife.

This can cover a wide range of knives since many people have different opinions on which knives to hate.

Gecko45 was not a real person. It is well-known that it was a regular poster just fooling around. It was obvious from his posts that he was trying to make each one even more over-the-top than the one before just to mess witht he other posters. Seriously, duck taping ceramic plates to a vest? It's been a while since I read those posts, but a response time in a mall of 10 minutes is considered fast?

Gunkid, on the other hand, is a real person. He preferred cheap knives IIRC. He's in prison now so he's not trolling.

Most of those fantasy mall knives, you couldn't carry safely, even if you wanted to.
Way too extreme, and they may even fall apart while walking.

That's what I said earlier. I pretty much said that any knife can be labeled as such by anyone. That's the way it seems to me.

I think we can express the phenomenon as a simple equation:

Personal tastes + exposure to advocates of different taste = snobbish humour/comments.

:D

I read the whole thing when a bunch of members from AR-15.com and Glock talk baited him as it developed, it was epic in proportion and developed a life of its own:D

You should publish these findings. They're brilliant. This is one of the most insightful things I've ever heard on any forum ever. Good job C.S.

Chuckinohio, I envy you. It must feel so good to laugh as hard as you must've laughed reading all that. :D

Unrealistically militarized?

Oooohhh! I'd love to have a waved fixed blade. How fast is deployment on this marvel of engineering?:p

Thanks, ol' chap. Now, if someone doesn't like, say, Buck 110's or Opinels... well, I don't know if Mall Ninja will be the derogatory term, since they really don't have that same look to them. I don't know if there's a derogatory term for old-fashioned stuff. People of this sway are more likely to just call them "junk" or "old man knives" or something.

I must declare some prejudice though, being a fan of some "old man" knives of this ilk. But, different strokes and all.

So any more specific knives, brands, styles that somone considers "Mall Ninja" or is it just Dark Ops? How 'bout Masters Of Defense?

Tactical church key ;)
