Just thought I would post pics of one of my favorite Busse medium sized choppers... I have no problem with rust in my users but was curious to see what exactly the situation was under the hood:).. Well, here are the pictures. eeeek!

This baby will be getting a straightened spine like the SHSJ and green/black linen micarta.. The blade on the SarQwill remain untouched..

I think I may have something here... Straight Handle Sarsquatch (SHSARQ)
It would be sweet if we saw some in a future ganzaaaaa...

Did anyone ever figure out why the sar knives are rusting? I don't have any rust problems with any of my other nekkid Busses'.

Just consider it a mark of love and respect.

You know ... like 'age spots' on us old guys. :D;)

Or the decorations on the uniform of a combat veteran.

It just lets the kids know the cost of accomplishment.

Just wondering J, has that knife been exposed to very much moisture?

Should look and feel great with a SH...the butt does drop a bit so it may be tough to get it 100% straight.

Are you doing the mods?

Hey Ken ,

The SarQ was left outside for about 4 hours during the middle of the night due to drunken forgetfulness. Other than that It has been indoors when no in use. I do not have a belt sander quite yet so I am going to have a neighborhood knife maker do the mods. His name is Tim Horan.
Luckily he lives only a few miles away from my place so I am going to be over at his house a lot.. I have a few projects I want him to help me with..
I was told M4 steel can blow infi out of the water as far as a all around better steel goes.. I personally don't believe it so I am going to try and have a blade similar to the sarsquatch made from M4 and use it like a Busse.. We'll see. With all the experience I have had beating on infi it seems impossible that I'll come across a better steel any time soon..

I have a FBM, used to be mint urban grey, never used, carried and always stored in a dry place. I took it out to show a mate and noticed the coating bubbling in a few spots, I ended up stripping it and the blade was covered in rust under the coating. Its stripped cleaned and oiled these days, but I wasn't to happy at the time.

I have also found with my stripped Mud Razor it will rust very heavily within a few days, but only in certain spots along the blade??? This is also when left clean and dry, so I am not sure what is going on here?

that would be all of the competition finish blades. jerry explained that the decarb is very prone to rusting

I told you it had a nice patina :p

It looks like you found that thing at the bottom of a river. Can't wait to see it with the new handles, good luck

I will be using Green and Black Linen micarta... Tim Horan uses it a lot with his blades. He also has Black Paper micarta.. It is tempting to go for but this blade is still young and needs to be beaten for a long time. I don't want the Black paper to chip under crazy usage..

Speaking of black paper micarta... Well, I am going to drop off a few Busses to get redone...

-Skelly warden.. Double cut with black paper micarta inlays
-FSH... Convex edge / Double cut with hand shaped black paper micarta

I'll post picutres of all three modified blades when they ware all done, not sure how long but I promise they will be sick...

I had my RUCK sharpened my Tim and I am for the first time scared to fondle it... Razor sharp...

Are you going to use green or black linen? Be sure to post pics!

For those that are worried about the fate of their CF Busses a healthy dose of a thin lube like Tri Flow or Break free will penetrate into those areas pretty well and fend off rust for a long time. Just hose the knife and handle down and let it soak in overnight then wipe off the excess. Reapply every now and then after exposure to water or high humidity :)
