Man survives bear attack with knife

That's a badass guy right there. I'm glad he had that knife on him! You just never know, always try to be prepared.

If you think a bigger knife would've settled it sooner, perhaps you should climb into one of those fighting cages with the knife of your choice and see if you can dispatch a wounded 500-lb bear on initial contact.

Dude, I'm not signing up for that, and didn't mean to imply I'm more macho than this guy. I know he wasn't thinking it would be the day he was attacked by a bear. I'm just looking at physics. A larger wound channel would be possible with the same length blade, but wider blade geometry.

Look at the Ontario RD4, same length roughly, but much wider and fatter.

My first thought was what lucky manufacturer gets the new bear killer title... BudK for the win:D lol

whoever the manufacturer is should snatch him up for promotions sake in a hurry! lol

great story thanks for sharing!

Incredibly lucky that guy lived.

This is why you're not supposed to hunt anything after legal hunting hours.

Bear never had a chance. Even if it had eaten him it would have choked to death on the guys BALLS.:p

Even if the bear didnt choke on them he would have died trying to digest them, being made out of brass, maybe even steel.
Dude's sack must clang when he walks.

"Killed a bear with a 5 inch knife" would probably be inscribed on my tombstone. What a badass.

Down to four inches now? This is like a reverse fishing story, the longer it lasts, the shorter the blade gets, until the tombstone finally says "killed a bear by Macgyvering a toenail clipping and a strand of nose hair"

Just kidding :)

"Used his sak keychain fob to kill a grizzly AND a wild pack of wolves that smelled the blood" next on page 56 of the National Enquirer!
