I just needed to get this off my chest...I love my knives, all of them but this one folder, kills them all. It is an amazing little hardcore jewel of destruction, a suede lined Abrams tank, a diamond headed sledgehammer.

I have had an SMF, AR, Mili, Manix 1, ZT 0300, 0200 and a litany of other "hard-use" knives, not for the money but period, this knife is the best of the folders.

Thank you Mr. Glesser for putting together one for the ages.

As soon as I am back on my feet, I am buying at least, three more of these little 154cm darlings. If you can find it in your means, a sprint run of flat ground 189 ZDP or BG42's is the only thing I can think of that would make me buy a different version.

:D zeke

Yes. It is becoming one of my favorites also. I don't really collect but there was a sprint run a while back (S90V I think?) that I wish I would have snagged.

I have to say I'm quickly becoming an enormous fan of the Manix 2. I don't think I'd trade my CTS-XHP foliage green version for anything at the moment.

I have been really wanting one. Once I can afford it I am jumping to get one. I handled one at a gun show once and unfortunately I already spent all I had for the show.

+1

I've got the CTS-XHP (my first and only Manix 2) but I liked it so much I jumped at the chance to preorder the orange one. Can't wait until December!!

I need to add that while I agree it's damn good I'm not ready to call it "the best". Hopefully "the best" is yet to come.

Mine has kicked all of my other work knives out of my pocket since I bought it. I still carry smaller, more discreet knives for EDC and such, but the manix-2 just beats the hell out of the rest of them for hard use.

Are all Golden-made spydies this awesome? This is my first USA made spyderco.

I've got a 'bog std' CPM154 and a CTS-XHP and I know it's got it's detractors but I love this knife design.
Eric Glesser scored big when he slam dunked this one!

Would love to see a BG42 version in CF (twill or smooth not peel and ply). Or an M4 Ti version... :D

Dissenting voice here. I have an OD Green version and I like it a lot, but it's far from my favourite knife, it isn't even my favourite Spyderco.
As for tough, I don't want to open that can of worms, but In My Humble Opinion, out of the 60 or so folders that I own, there are few I consider more frail or fragile than this one. It's exquisitely made, it's beautiful, it's functional, it carries very well, there is a lot to like. I dislike the lock (particularly disengaging it), and it does not inspire confidence for me. Overall, the Manix I is the better knife for me.

I would have to agree. my para 1 inspires much more confidence for me

I'm not posting here to diss the knife. I think it looks very useful and was planning on purchasing one...
...until I read about them having side to side play after light use, and having to do some filing to fix it.
I think sypderco may be doin some design changes to fix it/make it stronger.

I'll wait and see if they improve b4 dropping my cash on one.

Best folder on earth...should have no play. Unless, you're talking about an auto.

You don't own one? But you have a vote on whether it's good or not? That's like looking at a Corvette ZR-1 and dissing it because you read on the internetz that a Viper is redder.

Philwar-it's all personal preference bro.

I could care less if it's not, in actual testing the over strike king, chopping with a folder is like eating steak with a spoon. My bottom line is, it fits my hand, the lock is solid for what I need (it's not a TriAd or a Axis, I know that.) and fit n finish on mine is ridiculous. I got it second hand and its still rock solid, no complaints. If Mr. Glesser puts a more "hard-core" lock on it, thats awesome, just don't change the ergos.

I did not like it at first - it grew on me. Either way, it does seem to have emerged as one of Spyderco's leading sprint platforms, so I think we'll see more variations in the future.

You obviously will not agree with me as most probably will not, but I would bet that the Manix 2 is stronger than the Manix 1. The Manix 1 is heavier and has a 1/2 mm (?) thicker blade stock but heft does not always equate to strength. As long as loc tite is used so that nothing gets loose the CBB lock should be stronger than a back lock.

Spyderco is also one of the few companies that has various machines designed to break knives and have probably broke a ton of Manix 2 knives during the development of the design. I also don't think they would put out a weaker design if the original was stronger. I believe Sal said they have had one return for a broken lock and that was the controversial Manix 2 that went through a lot of abuse on video.

I have used mine a lot and used it hard for me (I use knives to cut things for the most part) and other than some scratches there is no play or any reason to question the lock strength. I wouldn't want to pry with the original FFG or either of the blade grinds on the Manix 2 as none fall into the sharpened pry bar category. I don't think it is the absolute strongest lock available but it is close to the top if you keep things tight and should stand up to outright abuse and the lock will be one of the last parts of the knife to break. Just my opinion.

I love mine in XHP! It's my first Spydie since my old Endura and it immediately became my favorite folder (and I have a lot). My lock up is completely solid with absolutely no blade play whatsoever after using it a good bit. I'm a little surprised that it would develop play out of nowhere.

I'm a big fan. I went a little overboard and I have 7 M2s at this point. The orange one is on order and I'll probably get the S90V sprint on the secondary market. I missed out on the pre-order.

Your gonna have to send me one, that's the only way to solve that dilemma. ;) Preferably the most used 154cm one, and then I'll do a review, on how second hand M2's rock!

One of my favorite folders as well, one the sharpest knives out of the box ive gotten, I have 3 and pre-ordered for the orange.
