I was a fan of the large original manix. I wonder how much it would cost if they designed it today as a new knife, and began production. Probably a lot more expensive than we remember, or are comfortable with.
Also, does anybody remember the vertical play that developed in these immensely strong knives?
I do like the manix 2, and think the lock should have a longer lifespan thanks to Mr. Eric Glesser's engineering. It is obviously less expensive too.
two complaints.
1) too small for real comfort for my XXL -XXXL hands.
2) Sprint runs are too small and are difficult to get for some. It's stressful when it's a knife you really want. To be honest it's not just a Eric G. thing. It's a spyderco, and Kershaw, and benchmade thing. Everybody is doing it.
We have the greatest knives ever made. Some times they are going to be difficult to get. That's a tradeoff.
BTW, Zombie Zeke, I liked your avatar of "the king" better than your new one. I've watched the guy performing from when he did a local cable show, to his work on the "squidbillies". He's the man!
