I had a S90V one.It fit my hand perfectly.

I couldn't warm up to the lock though,so it got sold.

Psycoman can't hear you.He got himself banned.:p

It's my large EDC folder, but I would like to see them with a FFG. Great knife nonetheless.

I see that the S90V model is FFG, is the Carpenter steel model FFG too? I may need to get one of those, just for the FFG.

Every sprint run of the manix 2 so far has been FFG except for the pink one.

Banned not a moment too soon :)

I love the look of the M2, but other folders keep popping ahead of it when it comes to my occasional buying time-first Stretch, then GB, then (probably) Caly 3.

Maybe it's time to take the plunge and just get it, anyway??

If you're in the mood, give the regular 154CM version a try. OK, it's hollow ground, not flat...but it's a relatively high grind, and unless you're thin-slicing crisp apples, it probably works fine. It's 154CM, not S90V, but that's darned fine steel, even today. It's full-lines not skeletonized, so the balance is a little different and the weight is a little greater, but it's not a deal-killer IMO. And here's the best part - you can fiddle with it for around $80 street price, less if you buy a pre-owned one.

I got the S90V sprint just 'cuz. Thought I didn't like it when it arrived. Played with it trying to wear the lock out, and decided I actually really did like the knife. Give it a whirl? :)

Rob, I can see that S90 detent being an issue, maybe send it in? If there isn't room for it to self adjust, I can see that being a real safety issue down the line.

With the qualification that I could have this completely backwards and upside down, wasn't a deeper engagement on the tang part of the relatively subtle revision to the lock that was discussed by Sal a month or two back? In other words, I'm not sure it's actually a problem, and it might be an advantage? I have a 154CM version on which I intentionally tried to induce lock wear by huge open/close reps. I gave up somewhere around 15k. Granted, it had some lube and I didn't do it with sand or grit in the lock, but there was zero observable wear. Maybe you could have measured it with a micrometer, but you sure couldn't demonstrate it by eye.

All the Spyderco sprints were FFG/skeletonized, and the pending dealer-commissioned sprint in Orange G10 will be, too. (The pink sprint was not.)

Dissenting voice here. I have an OD Green version and I like it a lot, but it's far from my favourite knife, it isn't even my favourite Spyderco.

+1
I have Blue Manix2 and it is OK. I like original C95 much more. IMHO C95 is the Manix. I like backlock much more than caged balllock as well.

I'm afraid I'm not in this camp. The Manix 2 is a very good knife, but it's not my favorite spydie. The main reason I'm keeping it is because CTS-XHP has been fantastic. However the handles and the proud liners are only 'good'/'ok' for me.

Find myself carrying it less and less right now.

Ankerson's review posted a couple months ago has me a little off the Manix 2 right now.. but maybe ill come back around one day.

This has been my favorite spyderco so far. The only thing i wish it had was m4 steel. My bradley seems to hold an edge better than the cts xhp cutting tires. The only thing I really dont like to much is the blade shape. Im a hunter, thats why I bought the bradley, drop point blade. Better for gutting and skinning animals. But I carry my manix 2 every single day other wise. Best knife I have bought so far.

I just needed to get this off my chest...I love my knives, all of them but this one folder, kills them all. It is an amazing little hardcore jewel of destruction, a suede lined Abrams tank, a diamond headed sledgehammer.

I have had an SMF, AR, Mili, Manix 1, ZT 0300, 0200 and a litany of other "hard-use" knives, not for the money but period, this knife is the best of the folders.

Thank you Mr. Glesser for putting together one for the ages.

As soon as I am back on my feet, I am buying at least, three more of these little 154cm darlings. If you can find it in your means, a sprint run of flat ground 189 ZDP or BG42's is the only thing I can think of that would make me buy a different version.

:D zeke

If you like it so much as a "hard use" knife then why buy three more 154CM versions and pine for a ZDP-189 sprint? It seems to me that the other Manix II sprint runs (CTS-XHP, S90V, S30V), which you state you won't buy, are more suitable for hard use than 154CM (which is still a fine steel in its own right). And, although I haven't tried it yet, I've read repeatedly on BF that ZDP-189 is not a great choice for hard use blades due to tendency toward brittleness:foot:... Yuna might have something to say about that, though:D. My CTS-XHP Manix II is turning out to be my go-to beater folder for hard use stuff. It holds an edge very well, hasn't chipped or rolled yet, and sharpens up fairly easily. And I cannot believe how much cheaper it is than the other sprint runs. Go for it!:)

I may have to get one of those. I'm not totally sold on the handle style but that particular Spyderco blade style is my favourite.

Interesting opinions. I find the handle to be one of the most comfortable of any folder I've owned (I will grant you it isn't much of a "looker", though) and the blade style is one of my least favourite by Spyderco... it is too broad/high for my tastes.

I think ZZ is saying that 154CM is a good hard use steel. The ZDP or BG42 would be the only "non-hard use" version he would like.
