Manix 2 or Paramilitary 2???

Good luck Justin and let us know which one comes home!!
Para 2 bro!! Much easier one handed!

The knife was a little heavy at first so I skeletonized the liners with a Dremel tool and brought the weight from 5oz to 4.25oz.

Totally agree with this. I was able to handle the regular g10 and lw Manix in a store. I loved the grip, but the g10 with full liners felt too heavy and the lw felt too light for it's size to me (and I wasn't a big fan of the translucent blue frcp).

I ended up deciding to wait for the next sprint, as they have factory skeletonized liners. It turned out to be the gray Cruwear, which feels perfect to me :)

I'm not the OP, but thanks! :)

Both. I carry the PM2 (or an Endura saber-ground) in colder months (wearing more, heavier clothing). But I carry the Manix II Lightweight in warmer months (less and lighter clothing) specifically because of the low weight. The Manix 2 G-10 is just too heavy for my tastes, regardless of clothing options.

Haha my bad! You're welcome, though. And you're right that we need more pics.

I love all the Manix configurations. Weight isn't an issue for me. I'm just a huge fan of the lock and ergos.

i think the manix 2 has a better lock, but the paramilitary has a sleeker design, i personally like the para 2 a bit more

now what if spyderco made a paramilitary/military with the ball lock ? would be cool, though it would be heavier. perhaps the current para2 is perfectly fine the way it is.

Well guys....no knife today. [emoji30] We're out here right now and their prices are way too high compared to online sites. BUT I did get a chance to hold the Manix 2 and the Paramilitary (they didn't have a pm2) I LOVE them both!!! Haha. However, I think I'm going with the Manix 2. I liked the way it felt in my pocket and I liked choil. So I'm going to place the order as soon as I get home. Then in a few months....I'll get the PM2. Haha. Thanks for all the help!

I was a fan of smaller knives and thought that knives the size of the Native 5, Delica, and Sage series would be my limit size wise. Then a friend sent me a Manix 2 G10 and I fell in love with how smooth it is. The spring in the ball bearing lock makes it a little stiff to disengage with just a thumb or finger but I've overcome that. I can easily flick it open with my middle finger or thumb or disengage the lock and move my wrist and swing it open or closed. I like the G10 so much that I had to try the LW. That's nice too but, as someone else said, it almost feel to light for it's size. I still like it and plan on using it for Summertime EDC.

Do to the size thing, I also didn't think the PM2 would be for me. I had read about the new smaller version (PM3?) coming out and was going to wait for that. Then I handled a PM2 in the knife shop and realized how wrong I was. It was actually a little smaller than I thought it would be but, like the Manix, it's still a tad bigger than what I typically like but it felt solid and light (considering) at the same time. So now I have a PM2 coming that I bought used from the exchange. Looking forward to test driving it for a while.

Good luck at the knife shop today. I'll be interested to read what you think of each and what, if anything, you come home with.

This is like the proverbial Beatles or Stones.

You have to try both man. Pick whichever one you want first, and then follow up with the other. In case you don't want to keep both, you can always sell either one here.

I only got to handle the light weight version though. They didn't have the G10 Manix. It did feel a little light. So that's my only real decision now.

 I found the knife shop by me to be way too expensive. I realize they have more overhead than the online sellers but I won't pay retail (or close to) for anything. Kind of sad because I'd like to support the local guys, especially since they provide an opportunity to handle and see the products in person. I just wish they'd make it a little easier for the knowledgeable buyer to make a purchase from them.

Glad you like the Manix! I think they're great knives!

More pics of these fantastic knives!! I couldn't decide which one either Justin.......the outcome is quite obvious!!!
Just great knives and you'll love either one!!
Wish you were able to check out a PM2 tho.

Me too. Is the handle different on the PM2? I noticed the regular PM had a liner lock.

That coated blade looks very nice with the orange scales

I love both knives but I must admit that I think the Para2 is more aesthetically pleasing.

Thanks Nick!! That's the sprint from Cutlery Shoppe.....my fav Para 2!! It has CTS XHP steel and is a slicing machine!!!
Here are both handles Justin.....pretty similar. The PM 2 has the coolest lock.....compression.....and is a blast to play with!!

I was having this same debate in my head last week. I ended up with the Manix 2 Lightweight in S110V steel. I got it for $85 new in the box so it was a no brainer. Also The PM2 tip looks a little more delicate to me. I work in a steel plant and wanted something strong.
