Mantis knives?

Sounds like a lot of shilling to me, Hi Jared!

If you aren't Jared, you sure seem to have "heard" a lot in your postings, and yet you don't seem to be able to offer any credible evidence of Mantis being anything more than a cheap import made from junk materials. And while you "heard" of so much good, how come you aren't "listening" to anything the people here, on a knife forum, are explaining to you?

The knife community is full of too many stand up guys that stand behind their products unconditionally to be messing around with a shady company, but it's your money spend it how you want, but I would bet 10 knives if you hate it when you get it your either gonna 1. Keep it forever because no one else wants it or B. lose so much money when you go to sell it that you basically just gave it away. We live, we learn, then we stop buying crappy knives.

What can a mantis knife do that a spyderco, benchmade or zero tolerance knife not do? Well besides maybe fall apart while your opening mail?

Every post started by a mantis shill should be promptly moved to w&c. That way honest opinions of both the knives and the shill can be exchanged.

I thought the same thing as I have been reading this thread. The weird thing is, there seems to be a Mantis thread popping up about every month.

I am listening i've read all of the posts on this topic!
You're not listening, what evidence do you have to say that mantis is a bad knife manufacturer.
now does any company make a good neck knife similar to the cyclops, in the fact that it is a folding frame lock design that does not look like a knife.
Where is my spyderco push dagger.
now I am not talking about all of their knives!
but the cyclops, wicked, midnight, and the Vuja De they are releasing this year!
also has anyone seen their prices!
BTW cold steel their carbon v, they changed that many times!

...
and the chaos folder is not the best ergonomics, but it could function in a emergency self defense situation right?
...

So could a rock.

I'm not going to go so far as call shenanigans, but you seem to know an awful lot about Mantis for a guy who just

"....recently heard about their knives......"

thinking-008.gif

Mantis makes the GT knives, and I think the quality is very good. I do not care for any of the Mantis knives as, " I think they are fugly".

Reading=/=listening. You've asked for opinions and when you get them you argue about them.

You're not listening, what evidence do you have to say that mantis is a bad knife manufacturer.

There's a search bar. Just find every post on Mantis knives on the entire forum.

Their prices are low for a reason.
Cold Steel also has an iffy reputation (the only thing I see consistent decent things said about it is the Voyager).

I went over all of the posts on this thread again and I really can not find any thing saying anything with proof.
1st post: from me hi I just heard about mantis knives and want to know info.
2nd post: knarfeng their not using the same steel as they advertise, with no info on how he knows this.
3rd post: doug C saying subscribed.
4th post: me replying to knarfeng's post saying how do you know they do not use the steal as advertised.
5th post: Tsujigiri saying You don't need an X-ray diffraction or spectrometry analysis to know that they're complete liars when it comes to the steel they use, because it's impractical.
6th post: jeffphansen77 I'm an aspiring Mantisologist & I missed the part where they broke & admitted it was something else "analogous" to the advertised steel. Do you happen to have a link handy? I remember they initially tried to say they scrounged the rare steel from machine shops & shipped it to wherever they make their knives. So Jared is tacitly admitting to have lied about that if he's changing the story.
7th post: Haze saying he has a friend who owns a knife shop and does not like mantis knives even though he has them in stock!
8th post: Tsujigiri saying Here's the thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...antis-Pit-Boss Second-hand info, I know, but you could just try emailing Jared yourself if you want. I'm sure he'll be able to make up an equally unlikely explanation for you that no one has heard before.
9th post: A.P.F. posting a picture of a man with a hand on his face.
10th post: jeffphansen77 saying he missed the post http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...antis-Pit-Boss
11th post: me talking about the mantis cyclops and saying I don't think their knives are too ugly! He did apologize about the whole spamming thing! (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...-Mantis-Knives) also on another post, he says he bought alot of this steel from a tool shop!
12th post: yo mama saying look for mantis threads and saying i'm part of the mantis army
13th post: Fanglekai saying friends don't let friends buy mantis.
14th post: harkamus being a nice and reasonable guy saying If you like a knife, buy it. It shouldn't matter what other people say about it. With that said, I dislike Mantis. Their designs and steel choice do nothing for me.
15th post: me saying "Also I don't think you guys understand why I posted this! I posted this because I was wondering about a new company I found. Wondering about if anyone has any of these. I am not a member of the mantis army. in fact I would say you are a member of the cold steel, CRKT, Buck knives army! If you have no info please do not do hate comments! also about the 440v steel, if they did get alot of it for a good price, look at the knives with it in: the pit boss has a .20 to .25 thick blade that is 2 inchs long(think micro or mini recon 1) the privateer or wicked has a 2 inch blade(unknown thickness) and the street price for these knives are 40-60"
16th post: VictorKilo saying he owns a mantis knife and it has bad ergonomics, and finish with no specifics on either.
17th post: justsomedude saying buy one learn and don't buy another.
18th post: me replying to VictorKilo "Thank you for the mature and friendly comment! I assume you are referring to the chaos folder correct? Sorry for your bad experience. BTW i've heard their quality control got a boost last year! and the chaos folder is not the best ergonomics, but it could function in a emergency self defense situation right? How's lock-up?"
19th post: me saying I will be buying a cyclops soon!
20th post: victorkilo saying One I have is the Kunitza. It's sharp and locks up tight, it's just too uncomfortable to actually use so I can't speak for edge retention.
and then we are here on this page!

Yep, you're a Jared shill.

Nobody joins a forum and spends that much time defending a junk company which he just "heard" about unless he's involved with the (junk) company.

I smell troll...

buying a mantis grants you instant mall ninja status. Guess they DID de-throne Dork Ops!

well of course i'm defending the company when I do not know if they are good or not!
and I'm also slightly frustrated that only 2 people over 37 posts own a mantis knife and the people that do say they are OK so why are they so bad!

Sniff Sniff"

I smell a shill. Nice try.
I investigate things for a living and you do not pass the sniff test.
Buy a Spyderco and be done with it.

there is NO REASON to buy one of those shady POS knives when real quality knives are available by reputable companies that have been serving military, police and fire for DECADES..
And have real believable specs and R&D.

speaking of mantis knives, i just got my nra catalog yesterday. in it had a mantis knife labeled as 440v steel and made in the usa.

i thought all the 440v steel was really hard to find and bascially gone? i also thought mantis made their stuff in china......anyone verify what mantis is saying is true? meaning 440v steel and made in the usa for this nra labeled knife? or is this just more of the same mantis style...........thanks in advance......

I am not a shill
but spyderco does not make a neck knife!
the bk 13 has to be concealed.
the condor bushbuddy has to be concealed.
the crkt minimalist has to be concealed.
but the mantis cyclops has no concealment required that's why I am interested, also I like unique or innovative blade designs!
BTW why do you think they are a shady or not trust worthy company? (I know the background color on their site is black:p)

22213lg.jpg

and here's a two post topic about it http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/886191-NRA-Mantis-Bulldog
BTW mantis knives are made in taiwan, USA, and China!
the mantis con brillo is made in the USA as well and at amazon the con brillo costs 33 dollars!
