Mantis knives?

Yeah but out of all the models you mentioned, the one I WOULD conceal is that stupid ring necklace. What look are you going for with that? Pagan prayer wheel or clutch disc motif? Spyderco had something like the neck knife but I can't think of what it was called, Swick?

You're definitely a shill...In your first post you say you've just found out about the company and want to know more, then later on you're pointing out new models that are coming out this year by name. Mantis knives are for Mall ninjas and horrible. Deal with it.

I owned an MC-9 Tough Tony. Out of the box the blade was very sharp, but not centered. As far as edge retention, not sure. I only carried it a couple of times. It was very uncomfortable in hand. The scales were very square and sharp, so I sold it. That was my experience. YMMV

Also, if Mantis really does have 440V steel, could you guys please give it to someone else who doesn't make horrible knives? Thanks.

do you have a problem with someone researching a knife manufacturer!
On their site they list all the knives they make!
and on youtube they show the vuja de at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnYyXEtRKJk

There are many, many threads already about Mantis knives. If you did a search you would find out that the general consensus is that they are not a very good company.Going by what you've posted so far you seem to know more (or atleast think you know) than anyone on bladeforums about Mantis knives so, if you've already made up your mind, why did you come here to ask for opinions?

every company, no matter how good or bad, has their dirty laundry. I have heard about the Mantis fiasco. I have a few of the Gerber knives that are "terrible", and in reality if you use them for the usual EDC tasks, they will actually perform pretty adequately. They take a *moderate* edge, and hold it well enough for the usual uses. That is exactly why I am looking at buying the Cylops, so I can give my honest review of it, because I could care less about the fiasco.

Does anybody actually have anything about the Cyclops itself, or is this too going to turn into a Mantis bashing thread? I would like to know people's experience with the knife, because I refuse to make an uneducated purchase (again, just the knife, not the company).

If you are not a Mantis shill, then I think you are missing a key point.

One of the reasons to have a forum like this is that people can avoid making the same mistake others have made in the past. You keep looking for people who have experience with Mantis knives to comment. You are not going to find many.

Because we have listened to the members here who have had Mantis knives and have commented here about not liking them.

Do you expect us all to go out and buy Mantis knives and find out for ourselves? That's silly if one trusts and values the opinions of our fellow members who already have.

And we do trust and value the opinions of our fellow members.

rachet, you're a shill, plain and simple.

You're researching a company? Research done pal. Glad to hear the comments? Appears not. So you also wanted to argue for your favorite company.

Yo Mama,

I pressed Ctrl+C to copy their specs.

Also I don't think you guys understand why I posted this!
I posted this because I was wondering about a new company I found.
Wondering about if anyone has any of these.

I am not a member of the mantis army.
in fact I would say you are a member of the cold steel, CRKT, Buck knives army!
If you have no info please do not do hate comments!
also about the 440v steel, if they did get alot of it for a good price, look at the knives with it in:
the pit boss has a .20 to .25 thick blade that is 2 inchs long(think micro or mini recon 1)
the privateer or wicked has a 2 inch blade(unknown thickness)
and the street price for these knives are 40-60

When you copy from their website, it's infringement and plagiarism if you don't say that in your post, which you did not.

You are in the Mantis army. I'm a Spyderco fanboy, so you got me all wrong.

Thinking I may have to just buy it and hope for the best. Just like my thread where I had good experiences with my 2 Gerber's, I did not see a single person post a single positive thing. That's what happens when you press on something that people have completely set opinions on. Just like when somebody says anything bad about Benchmade (none of the other companies seem to have such viciously aggressive fans), they get everything short of death threats.
I will be ordering a mantis knife.
I will do a review if you want I can send you a message with a link to the review!
if you want the link send me an email at deadlygeareviews@gmail.com send me details to how you want to be contacted.
you will get a link in month or two.

Typically, when a normal person asks for feedback about a brand or product, and the overwhelming responses are that it is a bad company selling bad products and provides links, the OP will say "thanks" and then move on to other brands.

When a shill pretends to ask for information about a company & product, and then proceeds to categorically defend and deny every negative response...

Hmmm...

anyone remember this thread started by cold kill?
Considering the Mantis Pit Boss (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/890500-Considering-the-Mantis-Pit-Boss/page2)
he or she posted a comment about that he did contact Mr. West and you said they ran out of the steel that they bought at the tool shop and changed to the Chinese equivalent this is the steel composition for Mantis 440V
Carbon-----------2.15%
Chromium--------17.00%
Vanadium---------5.50%
Manganese--------0.40%
Molybdenum-------1.00%
Silicon-------------0.40%

Tried to line them up as best I can. That is chemical breakdown of the Mantis 440V.

so you guys are right they do not use 440v or S60v anymore but this steel looks good!

I saw about 6 this past weekend on the table of the CHEAP KNIFE GUY at the local gun show.. you all have this guy in your area, he thinks a Really high end knife is a carbon V cold steel.(nothing wrong with them BTW just making a point)

The knives are bad horrible designs and even worse fitment.

That is what I know, the grinds were uneven and edges showed burrs. save your money and buy quality the first time.

all the comments were from people who did not own a mantis knife. or had not disclosed their reasoning for what they said.
also going back to the the fact that they do not use the steel they claim to I found this!

I have a carbon v ODA and it is an amazing knife very hard steel!
Can't say I can speak to it's durability as I like sticking to larger knives for hard use, but it has very good grind lines!

Some companies get badmouthed here and there. Others have an incredibly poor reputation, like Mantis. I won't buy any Mantis knives because they look stupid and because of all of the negative reviews on here. I don't care if the OP is a troll or trying to sell Mantis knives. It looks like no one here is biting so he's wasting his time.

You know rachet, some of the people on this site might know a thing or two about knives. it is called Bladeforums for a reason. At this point nobody is buying your sponsored message. Just buy whichever one tickles your fancy, and let us know how it pans out.

"I will be purchasing a cyclops this or next month."
So, you've already made up your mind, yet you want opinions on whether or not you should buy it. You also say that you don't want to make an uneducated purchase, but you want to ignore all the bad experiences that people have had with them?
I really don't understand you.

The cyclops is probably the stupidest gamer based piece of worthless garbage I have ever seen...IMO

Why not just light your $40.00 on fire, at least that will generate heat?
