One man's gold is another man's junk. It's gold to me, but I am not sure it's quite worth the price of admission, especially in consideration of other forthcoming Spydercos. :)
 
It's edging closer to the minimum.

I figure ordering it now will spontaneously cause some of the other knives I've been looking for to turn up in the exchange. Kind of a good news/bad news scenario.

Might have to skip the HAP40 Meerkat. Won't skip the Caly though.
 
I am guessing this is not going to happen. The number of folks joining has come to a standstill and they are 3 days out on needing to get to 250. Still a long ways to go.
 
Yeah I hate to be the pessimist but with the number left to lock down the drop and the remaining time it looks like this one is back to the drawing board.
 
About 12 hours left in this drop and they're 48 short of the 250 needed at $169.99. Plus, it's Cyber Monday so I doubt there will be much progress on this drop.

ETA: Massdrop updated it to two days left and 210 purchased. So, they now need 40 more purchases over the next two days which is quite possible.

I really like the Delica platform and would pay $169 if it had a different blade finish, that pattern doesn't do it for me. From the pictures it looks like all the hardware is blacked out, which looks nice.
 
See I signed up for the drop; and then had a Fremont Jack turn up in the exchange. Snagged the Jack and then this one will run.

I'm gonna need bigger pocket or more of them.
 
I finally caved and joined the drop, although they're still around 20 units short of goal. If you were on the fence, you might want to consider jumping in. This will end up being a minimum size sprint run (600 units) so it could end up gaining value as a collectible.

I could be wrong, but even if it does make the goal and is produced, it clearly is not popular at the given price point. For $170, I am not willing to get a potential Edsel of Spyderco knives. Don't get me wrong--I like it, but I sure am not going to get it as eye candy. Of course, YMMV, but I am going to hang out for other Spydercos. After all, there is only so much room in the ole' mansion.

Sir, if you run out of room for knives in the ole' mansion, you deserve to get a bigger mansion!

I think Massdrop really bungled this one. If they'd come out at $169.99 from the get-go, they'd have probably sold well over 250 by now. Posting the wrong price drove off a lot of potential buyers.

I still can't decide if I love or hate the looks of this knife. Something in my gut tells me I'll like it better in hand than in pictures...but I get to wait until May to find out for sure (if the drop survives, that is).
 
8 hours to go and needing to sell another 20 for this drop to proceed (250 needed at $169.99 each).

In the past 52 hours they've only sold 20!
 
I have a feeling this drop will still happen. 6 hours and we're 15 knives short? Well, MassDrop has already committed to buy 350 knives, what's the big deal if it's 360 knives...or 365.

I think they'd want to avoid the stigma of offering a Spyderco sprint that nobody wanted. Like...has that ever happened before?
 
I was Very interested until I got the email about pricing. Even the corrected one was too much for me.

I would take the manix in maxamet, or other sprints over this delica when there are HAP40 available for less...
 
Well it's now been extended, 4 days left. I think they will just keep extending till they hit the quota.

Massdrop is not always a good buy. Just look at the morakniv Kansbol they are trying to sell at a group buy of $32.99, plus $3.75 for shipping. Thats more than practically every other knife shop. Where is the group buy savings in that?
 
And it goes down with a whimper. Too bad, looks like it ended up 15 knives short.
