Maxpedition Bottle holder kit, review and pics

If it wasn't for the fact that you work with that stuff, I would have to call you a wacker. :p Not stuff the ordinary fool needs to be messing with.

:p

got mine, I've added a Cocoon via a Malice strap and added a bungee compression setup so I can throw on a light jacket or such

waiting on a few more bits

Where do you find the shock cord???? Ive looked everywhere for some in subdued colors...

for those looking for a longer strap i know kifaru.net has the shoulder sling. not sure of the length but they have tailor made stuff in the past. worth checking out anyway

Awesome!!!! Great tip. :thumbup::thumbup:

I got the cord from supplycaptain.com- they also have a good selection of the smaller multi-strand paracord (accessory cord)

has anyone carried the water bottle w/ a strap connecting to the top of the bottle and then the bottom of the bottle?- it would ride more horizontal in this config vs vertical w/ the strap to the upper D rings

not sure if this would be a better way to carry it, but thought I'd ask :)

well I added a small Barnacle to the other side- nice little pouch

my SP 600 was too small for the Nalgene, so got a 700- it's a good fit, there is enough wiggle room I think I can fit my ti windscreen in the 700

nalgene700.jpg

the lid to the 700 fits perfectly (it's a little snug, but stays put) in the upper top- there is still room left to store an item or two underneath it- I may have a idea that will work pretty slick

the 700 is a tight fit in the bottle holder, it goes in fairly easy, but coming out it's tight- I think I may have a decent way to remove it though, I make a tight fist inside the pot then pull- works pretty good :)

nested inside the holder

You can also grab the bottle holder from the outside, on the bottom, and squeeze it out. Mine's really tight too.

Have you tried putting it in upside down?
Can you give me a link to that 700?

I did and it's a little easier to get on top but my thought was I'll be using the water bottle fairly frequently- the pot much less so and thought it best to keep out of the way (even though it is tougher to get out)

it's the Snow Peak 700- can find it at most backpacking type vendors, REI etc

I can start it out by squeezing the bottom, but the fist method seems to be the quickest for me :)

I ordered one of these from Tad Gear to see how I like it.
I can't get comfortable with the zipper around the lid on the MaxP bottle holders. It can be a pain but the built in pouch on it is a big plus.
Will see what I come up with on the Tad pouch.

I have a similar one from Blackhawk. 511 makes one as well, which is much cheaper at $14.95.

I played around a bit w/ it today and found my wind shirt fits into the cocoon (w/ the gloves, hat and buff removed of course :))

my poncho/tarp would not though (pretty close but no cigar)

it did fit pretty well w/ bungee cord affair though

If you can still find one (discontinued), the MaxP 12X5 might suit your load better. You could stuff the hat, gloves and beanie in the bottom and load the nalgene and cup above it.

^ I think your right :) this is going to be a little bit of challenge w/ the 10x4 (but heck challenge is good- right? :D)

part of my kit (albeit a small portion) will reside in a small pouch attached to my knife sheath, but yeah I'm going to have to get creative w/ the 10x4

Cool kit, I really like the set up. Did you order that GSI cup or buy it locally somewhere?

as mentioned, w/ a 32 oz Nalgene and pot- there is still a little room (~1.5-2") in the 10x4

here's what I came up w/ to take up the small void that was available

it's the "tactical" :) can case ~ 3.5" x 1.75"

here's how I stacked things up

the case in the holder

the case holds my ti stove, two Esbit cubes, two Wetfire cubes, mini bic and two birthday candles

Nice

still plugging away on my kit, I added a small strobe pouch to the strap

it was very difficult getting the swivel from the strap through the webbing of the pouch, but if you go slow (and careful) it will go though- I secured w/ a web dominator so it stays put on the strap

stroberear.jpg

contents- FAK, repair kit, water purification tabs, sunscreen, bug dope and a petzel e-lite headlamp- it's a little snug, but it fits :)

That's awesome. Need to figure out what a web dominator is though. I don't have a strobe pouch but I do have an extra M2 (I think). May be too big but you never know.
