Maxpedition Bottle holder kit, review and pics

Sorry to dig up this old thread but I was curious if anyone else has built something along these lines and would like to share.

With all the rain we're getting lately, I was wondering if anyone has thought about some type of rain cover for these? Some form of waterproof cover, like a pack cover for backpacking, that you can slip the carry strap through.

A Sil stuff sack would work great. You could modify it very easily, and the are available cheap at wallyworld. Maxpeditions Nylon is pretty tough stuff though, so It might be easier to waterproof the nylon itself.

I have a cocoon attached to mine but I feel I need another "pouch" on there too. I'm hoping I can also have room to mount a knife to the side of it.

You still using yours a lot Jake?

Nope.. Sold my bottle holder awhile back, I just didnt like how high mine rode. I used it for quite a few months off and on though.... A longer strap wouldve solved the problem, but I switched to a messenger type bag to carry a bit more gear. I just got a lunada gearslinger that im lovin at the moment.

Make no mistake though, these are a great piece of kit. I will probably pick up another one in OD at some point.

So far I've used mine when I go with my son to do something with his Cub Scout pack.

If I want more room, I can normally get away using my Fatboy Jumbo but I feel it "needs" a pouch or two attached to it also.

Maybe I'll be able to get some pouches for Christmas, hehe.

As for the strap, ya, it's a little short. Someone on here posted that Spec-Ops makes one that's a little longer I think. Also, I thought about knotting one up out of paracord but it may be to narrow.

Still using mine quite often. If I need more room, I go to my mil version camelbak HAWG. My set-up hasn't changed much, only difference is that there's now a Maxped flashlight holder on there instead of that surefire one (maxped one is awesome, more secure and fits different lights better):

10x4 (pocket holds a few emergency items)
M1 (holds extra stuff I want to carry that day, fuel for my popcan stove if I take it along)
M2 (holds ouch kit and bandana)
maxped strap
maxped flashlight sheath (now)

I was thinking of grabing on of these and using my milspec ponch folded and wraped with 550 as a strap...any thoughts on this?

I've got a larger pouch (don't remember the name) attached to mine. I keep my milspec poncho in it. I've found with everything loaded in it, it rides best with one end of the strap hooked to the bottle holder, and the other end hooked to the pouch. Rides right to the side of my hip.

Anyone have any new setups whether its a MaxP Bottle holder or some other brands Bottle holder?

i really have no idea why Maxpedition has discontinued the 10x4 and the 12x5. They seem to be a big hit with us woods types....
