Maxpedition Bottle holder kit, review and pics

well I'm not complaining, well....... yes I am :D, here's the start of #3 April snow storm in the making- at this rate I should get my bottle holder overnighter done sometime in August]

stark contrast from that hike with the little one last week.

still plugging away on my kit, I added a small strobe pouch to the strap

it was very difficult getting the swivel from the strap through the webbing of the pouch, but if you go slow (and careful) it will go though- I secured w/ a web dominator so it stays put on the strap

contents- FAK, repair kit, water purification tabs, sunscreen, bug dope and a petzel e-lite headlamp- it's a little snug, but it fits :)

Is that the 2" or 1.5" strap?

All great stuff in this thread, and it's giving me more ideas for my bottle carrier set up  I need to add a pouch or two as the one on the front of the carrier doesn't quite fit all my necessities.

Ok, need to find the combinations that work i.e. plastic Nalgene work with these cups and metal Nalgene works with these. I know I should go back (I did read 98% of the posts). Like to save weight, is there a known combination of plastic bottle and TI cup? I know the GSI cup works with the metal Nalgene.

The plastic Nalgenes, and metal Nalgenes fit in the GSI glacier cup. Its stainless though. Tough and durable, and really not that heavy. Mines been kickin along for years.

Thank you for listing those options! Can't wait for all my items to arrive for assembly! Funny enough though, I was looking for a basic water bottle/cup combo and had put together from BestGlide.com a Zulu bag with US canteen and cup. This was just 2-3 weeks ago. Now I had to come across this thread by chance. :)

Ok, so it seems the cup has to be 4.2"D in order to fit the bottle as both the GSI and SnowPeak are.

the SP 700 has a little room, not a ton, but some- enough so that I can store my stove windscreen in it and still fit the bottle w/o issue, not sure on the GSI how snug it is????

There's a little bit of wiggle room with the GSI cups. Could probably fit a tinfoil windscreen or similar in there.

Yup! I can fold a single thick paper towel sheet in half, put it over the GSI or SP cup and sink my 32oz Nalgene or a 38oz Standard Guyot in the cup no problem. Plenty of wiggle room.

For those ordering Guyot's online, there are two models. The Backpacker (32oz with tapered bottom) and the Standard (38oz). The Standard is the one you want.

Got mine almost setup. Bought a 2 inch strap, a cocoon, and a m2 pouch for it. However I didn't realize that when I gave away my 3x5 pouch that I also gave away two of my tac ties. Anyone have a good idea on how to attach a cocoon to the side without them?

That sling shot is way cool and I like the strap as well. Where did you find them?
