I would be interested in info on this. We have had that happen a few times and we have made good on all of them.

Very interesting regarding DC. My friend ordered a knife from KSF. It was over $500.00 it was shipped USPS with dc only. He never got it. KSF told him to pound sand he filed a claim with credit card company and lost! Sooo be careful most credit card companies except Delivery Confirmation as proof of delivery. I see both sides of this. As USPS is not really that dependable . As I buyer I have no recourse if I did not get item. I think a previous poster said we should hand deliver each item lol

Two packages last month lingered in Kearny for me delayed a week and had to make an inquiry to get them moving

Jill,
WI have had what happened to you happen to me about a half a dozen times, my down fall seems to be Kearny NJ. distribution center, I have had numerous package's hit Kearny & circle around there for a few days, as a matter of fact I have one there right now & I have my fingers crossed.

So I thought I would ask the agency whose position was being characterized:

Dear Thomas,

When packages are insured, even if they are scanned as delivered, if you don't get the package you can file for that insurance. Packages insured for under $200 do not require a signature but if it is insured for over that it would require a signature. If you wish, you can ask the sender to also add the service of Signature Confirmation so that you have proof of delivery and who accepted the package. Electronic Signature Confirmation costs $2.20.

Thank you for emailing your Postal Service. We appreciate your business.

Best Regards,

Tera

Obviously, "filing" does not equal being paid. but payment is clearly not precluded.

I've filed one claim of an insured lost package and I had to file it at some headquarters in another state. It took about 8 weeks to recover my money, I had to provide a receipt to file and the package was admitted to being lost by the postal service, before I even filed it then had papers sent to me to file. I doubt I would have recovered anything, if they had record of it being delivered. But, maybe if the post office where I sent it could have determined it was mishandled I would have. As it is in this case way too much time has elapsed for anything to be recovered.
