Message From Canal Steet on Forum Knife. Good to go.

I just figure they'll get here when they get here. I have buddies all over my company saving boxes for me. The P.O. does have them, but they are only for priority mail. These will go out first class insured on the first Saturday after they get here. (except for freezergeezer's and a couple going to Canada).

Got the packing materials saved up from the bottom of the bird cage:p, a Costco pack of shipping tape and have been toting a print out or two in my brief case as label fodder.:D

We are ready to go. Just need the knives.;)

Could it be that some people are under the impression that the folks at Canal Street (mind you there's less than fifteen) were waiting just for this order to come in so they could start right on it? If that were the case they'd probably be out of business by now. I'm sure they have a backlog of orders from other folks, and ours went to the bottom of the pile when the check came in, as it should have. The completion date was just a ballpark, not written in stone. Hell, I'd be happy to wait six months for this baby. If you want a one of 47+- hand made etched knife, you've got to be patient, otherwise you get the kit form below :)

Sorry about the thermonuclear brightness, it was a lousy flash shot

Gus thanks for the update. Hope I'm not one that is driving you crazy with this. Don't let it get to you and enjoy the Holidays and thanks very much for everything you've done and do for us and the forums.

Gus thanks from me also, for all your work. Add me to the list also please, if anyone does pull out. I'll take another knife.
Although if anyone. is thinking of pulling out of the deal now, it's rather like swimming the Atlantic Ocean, getting three quarters of the way there, and deciding your going back because you can't make it.

Gus, I think you have done a bang up job. If someone wants out, I'll buy their knife.
Thanks a bunch.

Thanks for all your efforts Gus, we know it will get here when it gets here as they say.
Its funny I am going thru a nasty divorce, haven't posted in ages but the first place I come to is the Canal Street Ring Knife BF's style!!!

Prioritys!!

LOL Kap

Thanks again for your persistence and perseverance Gus.

No good deed goes unpunished, but also never goes underly rewarded.

They will be ready when they are ready, no pressure from this side, but please keep up the good job of politely reminding CSC about them.

Chris

this might be for the best anyway-canal street has made a few ring openers now so goes to reason they are better at doing it now than when they did the first runs-

I just keep in mind that they are still a start up. It is important for them to keep up with the long term demand from their dealers who will help them in the long run. If we step back and think about it, waiting a couple of extra months should not be a big deal to us.

Thanks for the support gang!

Worst of the knife world this year:
Chinese Old Timers
Camillus/Becker shortages

Best:
Canal Street Cutlery's Ring Knife
A couple great designs from Bark River
Lots of great customs in the "For Sale by Makers" forum section

I would agree with the worst of the year. I am not really sure what happened to Camillus, is it still in business? Chinese Schrade Old Timers by Taylor has to be a low in the knife industry.

Now the best, I hope "Bob W" is right about the Canal Street ring knife. I think we picked a good design, anyway I will give you what my opinion is about a month or so.

Unfortunately I think Camillus has just become a packaging company more than anything else. I hope they can at least salvage some actual knife making out of it. In the meantime, here are a couple shots of the new ring opener. It's super sharp out of the box and the backspring is so tight that I wouldn't attempt to open both blades(or blade and file) at the half stop for the photos. I'm really impressed:

I can't imagine what it must look like in pearl.

Really nice pics and our's are going to be in STAG. I am looking forward toward getting the knife. I also agree with your assement about Camillus being a re-packaging company, probably everything will be made in CHINA.

so any ideas aboot the next bf 07 knife?

i wouldnt mind working with canal street again myself-

Do we have a volunteer?

I will be glad to help out, but I really need a break in 2007 as far as organizing, collecting and mailing. Considering I spent the first half of last year commuting 240 miles 4 times a week, I am almost spent. :D.

i know all about a commute-my 9 month old car has 15,000 already-

let me think about it-

a new style mammoth muskrat sounds kinda nice

I wouldn't mind going with Canal Street, of course I will have to see the ring knife as it will be my first Canal Street purchase. I wouldn't mind getting a whole set of Canal Street knives, done of course in stag and basically the rest of thier pocket knives. Of couse that would be a large investment of money, but it would be worth it.

Hey Guys, I have been in hog heaven the last few days reading all the great posts. being very new to the forum I have read with great interest about the Canal Ring Knife. Is all of these already reserved? if not, how much are they and how do you order one.

Thanks

Randy, first of all welcome to BFC, I hope you enjoy your time here as much as I do. The BFC ring knife was ordered a while ago, we're waiting delivery now. Some folks ordered more than one, and maybe you can pick up one of them. If not there will probably be another Canal St. BFC knife ordered for this year you'll be able to get in on that one for sure.

Randy yeah the BFC knives are sold, but you can find the CSC ring knives at AG russel and at Cumberland Knife Works
