Message from Ethan Becker

Hi Ethan, just something of note that you might want to suggest to the people at Ka-bar.

They have not updated there news or press release on their website for over 2 years, hopefully they will put the awesome news of Becker knives in both places. I guess they have not had anything exciting to note till NOW.

just my 2 cents

This thread is 6th in line for the amount of replies and 8th in line for viewing for this section, I guess this shows that Becker Knives are popular.

Because this thread -- and it's very happy news -- has brought so many Becker fans together, maybe someone can give me a difinitive answer to a little mystery.

At a gun show 4-5 years ago, I spotted two knives on a table (No other knives!! A good sign. :D). The vendor sold me both for $90 IIRC.

One appears to be a Brute and the other a Campanion. Heavy, black leather sheaths. "Regular" Becker handles. Some sort of grey paint?epoxy? covering the blades. Absolutely no markings of any kind.

Does anyone know the story on these? The vendor had no idea.

Hey everybody....

The deed is done!! BK&T and Ka-Bar are now joined at the hip....I will post details from home, but I am having too much fun with Toooj putting the final polish on some new designs ...I do TRULY appreciate all the kind words and even the advice.....

YESSS... :D:thumbup:

Can you say Necker?

Ironicly the BK7 retired the olean Ka Bar I carried for over 20 years. I was looking to get a BK9 next when they tripled in price then disappeared suddenly. There's a few more from the old line I need if they are brought back.

Ethan, thanks for persevering, and putting up with the s#it. You're making more than a few of us happy here. Joe

there appears to be a run of those, i think early blackjack, but am not sure myself, and they're all sterile. one of my machax's and a campanion is like that. interesting and weird. i know you don't want them, so send them to me ;) i found the grind on that particular machax to be "inferior" to the prior versions - it's a bit blunt. not sure what's up with that ;) some people are calling it a "powder coat", but it really is much thicker and glossy.

Wow, reasonably-priced Becker Neckers, made in the USA, maybe made by Ka-Bar...

Vital question: will the Necker still have the bottle-opener in the grip? Genius!

I do love the Necker, and maybe I just have big hands, but I would love it even more if the handle were just a little longer. And please keep the bottle opener.

QUICK! Invest all you have in Ka-Bar! What's their stock market symbol?

Bladite's right. These are Blackjack Beckers. I have a couple of Campanions and a Reinhardt Kukri with this coating. In the pic below, moving L to R, see knives 2, 3, and 10. If you're sending yours away for free, send me the Brute, please. :p

Bladite, you seen this? http://blackjack.0catch.com/pages/ There's some Reinhardt Kukri info there. I imagine you and I could send them some info on other Blackjack Beckers.

Those stripped and polished Beckers are beautiful, Guyon. Until I saw your pics, I never knew Becker made a kukri. I love it.

Those aren't stripped and polished.

They either have an epoxy coating, an nickel-phosphate finish, or a satin finish.

Those knives came that way from either Ethan's set-up in Cincinnati or from Blackjack Knives.

Chiming in to cast another vote for the BK5 Magnum Camp Knife. Although my TacTool is my most used BK&T tool, my Magnum Camp Knife is my favorite. I will admit I dragged my feet to acquire one. I guess I just figured I'd pick one up whenever, and that they would always be around. Oops. I feel fortunate that I did find one after it was discontinued. It is truly a spectacular cutting tool. Count me in for a few should they ever be produced again.

I love knives, and enjoy every opportunity I have to use them. I usually acquire a couple knives each year to try out, but I tend to fall back on what I know works really well for me. I am going to suspend any plans for knife purchases in the near future, and instead plan on investing in Ethan's next crop (Magnum Camp or not).

Thank you Ethan!

-Marc

Damn this is some good news... Congrats Ethan- you make some great knives. I can't wait to see what's coming!
I gave my BK-7(1)? (Was the desert tan finish) to a friend who was deployed and have wanted another one to keep mint (Trust me I've got a user too...I LOVE that knife). I think I'll need a necker or 2 or 3 as well:thumbup:

Oh, and here I thought you did all that nice work on them. Very nice. They are pretty. Mine are black.

Hey everybody....

Just got in and have only a moment...I am very hungry....Guyon is closest to right....the very early Machaxes were in the bright with walnut scales..later cincy blades were phosphated and the blackjacks were either stainless or powder coated, they were "sterile" because nobody could figure out a way to mark them properly...
Good, no great, meetings at Ka-Bar about the new stuff...Boy oh boy do necker fans have a treat in store!!!!!!!!!

Gotta go...be back soon....

All Best...

Maybe now I can get the Brute and BK-9 I kept putting off. I've got a Necker and two BK-7's, but the Brute and BK-9 I didn't get. Won't wait this time.

Ethan,
Are you keeping title on your name or how does that detail work?
