Boker Atlas

I always admire that copper(?) Atlas, Jack.:thumbsup::cool:
I never see them at US dealers.

Cool Coca-Cola cast metal knife with corkscrew, Harvey.:cool::thumbsup:
Do you think Coke ever was sold with a cork instead of a bottle cap??

Most of my recent posts in this thread have been re-runs of knives I posted earlier, but I'll interrupt those repeat posts for a week with a knife I received last month. We've been in our house for over 38 years, but of the 12 houses on our block, at least 3 are occupied by people who lived there when we moved in. That includes Hortensia, who lives across the street and one house south of our house. She's been a widow for several years now, and one day in March when she and my wife were visiting each other, she gave my wife this SAK clone to give to me. It belonged to her late husband Julian, who worked for the railroad. The covers are attached with the little tabs that get crimped over the bolsters and I'm quite sure those covers are all metal. One of the backside tools is bent, so that particular tool is very difficult to open, but otherwise it seems to be a very serviceable knife.

This week I'm again posting an all-metal knife that I've posted in this thread before. I think I'll simply "quote" the original post below.

My wife got me this one for Christmas several years ago. I have no clue who the maker is, or what the "UG" represents (Urban Guerrilla, Unforgettable Gentleman, Ugly Guy, ??) It stays on the kitchen counter, and I use it for cutting up pills for the dog and for opening plastic food containers, removing "vacuum seals" at the top of jars containing peanuts, peanut butter, instant coffee. The blade, including tang, is about 1.25" long, and closed length, including pliers jaws sticking out the end, is about 2.75".

Thanks GT.
Here’s my brief research:

Thanks for the very interesting info about Coke bottles, Harvey, including the photo with the corked bottle on the left.:cool::cool::thumbsup:
I had never really thought about how distinctive the shape of the bottle is, and the history of why and how that came about was fascinating. I think I'm old enough to remember the last 3 bottle styles on the right (the last 2 for sure). Seems like when I was a kid, some of the Coke vending machines sold bottles that were considerably smaller than 12 oz.

I like your brass dog knife from Hoffritz, too!:thumbsup::cool: I have a "knock-off" version from Novelty Knife Co.

This pattern is still made in Sheffield, and quite popular, particularly as an advertising knife.

That's a cool advertising knife, Jack, especially having seen the accompanying print ad!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
When I saw the knife as one of your totes for today in the "Totin' Today" thread, I intended to ask you a question, but I'll just ask it here instead.
Do you have more than one of those knives? It certainly would work wonders for you if you had a Double Double Diamond Day!! 😁
Have you ever tasted Double Diamond, or is that a pale ale that disappeared before you were born?

My metal knives for the next few weeks will be Victorinox Alox models. First up is a black Alox Money Clip that I sometimes use as a tie clip.

Thank you very much Gary πŸ™‚ I have several Double Diamond advertising knives, including at least one other in that pattern. Double Diamond was a hugely popular beer here when I was growing up, and I have tasted it in bottles, cans, and on draught. It was a very iconic beer, heavily advertised, and it always reminds me of my youth! 😁 I'll have to plan a Double Double Diamond Day! 😁 πŸ‘

It's good to see your tie-clip again my friend πŸ™‚πŸ‘
