Michael Morris Friction Folder--Let's see 'em

i want one BAD! tried going to his site for the past 3 days but my browser wont let me. says its infected

What's the blade size on folder, confucious? I was thinking about picking up one last year, after seeing these pics it's hard not to want one.

blade is 2.75 inches tip to scales.
closed length is 4.875 inches from the top of the tang to bottom of scales
the scales themselves are 3.875 inches top to bottom.
the knife is 3/8 inch thick, it is incredibly slim, literally disappears in my pocket (I dont use the sheath for carry)

He does make them in different sizes, but I asked for the longer of the typical blade lengths that he does.

Sorry Gents... My webpage has something not right... I have my webpage guy looking into it...

This thread is not good -- it's making me impatient for mine. Hoping Michael gets it done sometime soon. Waiting is hard enough without pics to make it worse! :D

shudaizi,

I feel your pain. I just ordered one, and now I will have this thread to torture me during my wait. Hang in there.

I'll just leave these here :D :p

Don't know if this pic is going to work. Love Michaels knives, I have bought 4 from him already 2 friction folders and 2 fixed blades. This is the latest friction folder he made for me( with a special click fit neck sheath).

Ok here is another since the pic worked. I also have an amber/honey friction folder with drop point and more of a pintail type handle that I got from Michael before this one. I will take some pics when I get a chance.
He is an absolute gentlemen and a superb craftsman, you will not be disappointed in any way with any knife that Michael makes for you. Whenever I use it people are always asking about it.

I just learned about these last night from a repeat of a Michigan Outdoors episode. What a sweet little knife! I will be placing an order in the very near future.

I absolutly love the look of these. I have never owned let alone held a friction folder. Do these have a detent or something to hold them closed if you dont carry it in a sheath?

Just ordered 2 today! One drop point one sheepsfoot both in natural micarta. Let the agonizing wait begin

One of these folders is on my 'after Christmas' list, hoping Santa leaves some cash under the tree like I asked :D

I just hope he doesn't get buried with orders after this thread!

Here is mine. Has been one of my more like knives. Old school look and a wharncliffe blade to boot. Hasn't seen as much use as it deserves though.

Was just thinking a fixed blade version that slid together to form one uniform block of micarta would be cool. Kind of like a rectangular pen, though with blade.

Love this knife! In my view Michael has nailed the friction folder concept. Easy to lose in your pocket, a joy to use. What you can't see in pic's is that he's put a slightly narrower shim between the micarta scales at the butt end. This means the gap between the scales tapers slighty from the pivot, giving gently to pinch the extended tang, making the knife a little more secure. Beautifully simple.

This knife has a great hollow grind too with a nicely rounded shoulder where the top of the grind meets the spine. This makes it really good for working with wood.
