1356 posts on this. I don't care what Mick did or who he was. I care about who he is now. I am Proud to call Mick a friend. This seems like much ado about nothing..........just one man's thoughts and your milage may vary

i have to say that i feel deeply saddened at the information that has been revealed ..although there could be something in the missing years that may 'square the circle' .. it still makes me sick that i took someones word and it seems it was all bullshit

however.. i think this thread may have fulfilled the original intention. anything else seems to be petty vindictiveness ..even if Mr Strider may not think of the repurcussions when passing out the dubious information, we should

i would say lock this thread, make it a sticky until such time the information is proved or refuted...

The worst thing I could find Mr. Strider saying was:

"The lackluster no support bullshit is pissing me off."

There was nothing "polite" or "with patience" about your comments. It was thinly veiled elitist sarcasm.

Beyond that, I've repeated stated that I agree Mick lied about combat duty. I've also read the whole "lick my sack" thread, and while I can certainly understand his frustration, the comment was inappropriate. Was is 42 more PAGES of discussion inappropriate? Absolutely not. I'd be pissed too if someone came on the internet and questioned my quality control instead of approaching me first. Sounds strangely familiar...

It started on 2-13 and ended on 2-19, conveniently while I was at SHOT. Hm, maybe I should question Mick's motives.

My motives are clearly explained, repeatedly, throughout this thread. Getting my ducks in a row before I make a public statement is good sense, especially with regards to lawsuits.

His motives are a mystery to me man, why would he lie about being sent to Somalia? Why would he carjack someone? Why go AWOL? These are bizarre actions for someone who touts honor. Yet here we are.

The Somalia thing is a mystery to me too. The carjacking doesn't interest me... he paid his dues for that. As for the AWOL, I've already said that, while I don't think it is right, I can sympathize.

You've plainly stated that it was his Somalia claim that "forced your hand" to create this thread. So, in essence, you did exactly that.

It wasn't until I saw a 30 page thread on Cold Steel that I even had an interest on this, though. But if you have evidence otherwise, back up your statements.

I'm not sure exactly what you wanted me to answer.. These posts are so intense and so confusing. :( and such a waste of time imho. I guess my point is I don't take the time to do background checks on people who I consider friends. I have my own set of criteria. I have known Mick as a friend for a good 5 years. We don't talk about our pasts but what we are doing today. Mick has always treated me right and I will stand by him until he doesn't. I personally don't see the latter ever forthcoming.

Read in full context ,it was hardly that at all, but I doubt very much you'd be incline to agree. Any chance you'll approach Mick when you get the chance? Maybe the only way to get the answers is to ask him yourself.

I too had issues when I was younger and also paid the price for what I did. Being my second post here and in such a controversial thread I feel I will just move on to other interests. The man I was is nothing like the man I am now. From my dealings with Mick he has always done the right thing. I spoke with a knifemakers wife just 30 mins ago about this and she said if it was not for Mick her business would be shut down. I will choose to accept Mick for who he is now and how he treats me and mine. Thats the nice thing about America we can do as we want. Hope this works out for you.. :D
 
I guess I'm one of the weird guys, who has to admit that I thank God that everything I did in the folly of youth, or a pathetic moment of weakness/stupidity aren't spread accross the internet.

If Mick had some hard years, made some sucky decisions - he is no different than most of us, if we admit it.

What point is there to keeping throwing his past in his face whether it be true, false, confirmed or shrouded in mystery - let's help him put it behind him.

Look at it this way, you got a secret you hope to God no body here at BF can link back to you, a glimpse into a part of your life you wish you could take back, because your doing your best not to be that person anymore?

How would it be if someone pulled the covers off of that secret, and made a Post just for the heck of showing they are able to find it out. so they could expose you & demand your justification, denial, or acknowledgement of it?

I don't know Strider, but I know if the roles were reveresed, I'd appreciate it if folks would just let the past die.

He makes knives now and from the ad copy I have seen uses his past to sell them. He is the one that brought his past into this. At least the part that concerns me, Is he a combat vet like he said, did he do spec ops for the government, or did he make it all up to jump start his knife company?
