Good point Bryce!!! The problem as I see it is Pro Tech, my fav company, makes a rock solid, built to last knife with fantastic customer service!!! BUT, they aren't as flashy as Microtech designs. MT has some real eye catching designs where PT is a bit more utilitarian looking.
I have 2 TR-3 autos. I am the second owner on one and the third on the other. Each are at least a couple years old. They both fire like pistols, are tight as can be and neither has given me one problem.
I really liked the MT LUDT. Didn't want to do it, but I loved the looks of them and ordered 2 from Blade HQ.
One wouldn't fire open and lock up out of the box. Pivot was pretty tight. Tri wing hardware prohibited adjustment. Lubed the shit out of it and fired it a bunch of times. Loosened up a bit and would finally lock up.
The second one was pretty good out of the box.
I noticed the Pro Techs fired harder and were much easier to close.
In 6 weeks both LUDTs springs broke. Neither was carried more than 2 or 3 times, never cut anything and weren't obsessively opened.
Called MT, left a bunch of messages and never heard from anyone. Just wanted to find out how long it would be to fix them.
called Blade HQ. They said send it to them and they'll send it to MT. They also said they couldn't guess how long it would be.
I'll never buy anything else from them. Only Pro Tech or Benchmade autos in the future.
Ugh
