Got home today to a nice package. The production Whale Shark. My first Microtech, and it seems very nice. Blade is perfectly centered with a solid Lock-up and Razor sharp blade. The flipper action is not quite as smooth as my 561 or Tilt but works nicely. Now the Pics:)

To be perfectly honest. There is nothing about that knife that I find appealing. I dislike the giant thumbstuds, and the weird hardware. Just my opinion.

How does it feel in hand? To me it looks like it would be quite uncomfortable.

I'm not going down that other road at this time.

Yeah it probably wasn't a good idea to post that. It is a very nice looking knife but they stole a bunch of ideas from kershaw/ZT and that's just not cool:thumbdn:

Really cool sub-frame lock and back spacer...

You're being ridiculous. If Microtech's designs infringe on a ZT design, then take legal action. If they don't, then stop trolling the forums, pretending that the knife business has some samurai honor code.

eternal10, those pictures are great - that's an awesome looking knife. Johnny Liao really did a great job. I think Microtech is using ceramic ball bearings in the Whale Shark, so it should flip smoothly.

If Microtech doesn't like what he has to say, they can ... go copy someone else next time.

Pretty obvious how badly they disgraced themselves, and we may not have seen the last of the repercussions. However, this is a discussion forum, and discussing the knives is never out of place. Discussing those making the comments is.

I think it looks pretty cool. The only thing I see that I don't like is the clip. That knife is going to ride pretty high in the pocket I think. Just saw the price on those, too much for S35v. Still looks cool.

The design of that knife is based on what's called a Shi-lin knife here in Taiwan. Tonys good friend here Jonny Liao designed the whale shark knives from this traditional patern. It's interesting to see that he was OK with MT using the ZT style set up for that knife. Perhaps not that interesting at all actually as he was quick to defend MT in that whole mess......

Basically like a Bob Lum style Chinese Folder.

Yes, it would be safe to say that those style of knives were the knives Bob Lum what honering with his Chinese folder design.

Indeed mate, right when I saw it tht is the first thing that popped into my head.

P2s, do me a favor, go learn something, anything about the business then you can flap your lips. Until then...well you know.
