Microtech Production Whale Shark Has Arrived

I think the fit and finish looks spot on, but overall, the design does absolutely nothing for me. Not a fan of the leaf shaped blade, though I would not doubt that it would make a great utility knife due to the belly it has.

I like it overall and might pick one up. How the g10 is shaped is appealing.

The sharpening choil looks weird to me. It seems like they took half an inch off the edge for no reason. It also seems weird to make the lock bar satin, screws blasted, and blade stonewashed.

Did it come with a tool to take it apart?

One day Microtech will devise a thumbstud so large it will devour us all.

Well, technically, they'll wait for Kershaw to design it, then rush theirs to market, and then it will devour us all. But still.

This thread is so full of win, and so full of fail, that it without a doubt wins the Yin/Yang award of 2012 thus far!

I'm sure its built fairly well but not a fan of Microtechs interpretation of the Whale Shark design.

Really cool sub-frame lock and back spacer...

Is Kershaw doing anything about this? I see Microtech releasing more and more of these things, but nothing is being done about it. Did he find a legal loophole or something?

That adjustable sub-frame lock is idiotic, btw. What's the point of having a lock that you can adjust for wear, if the screws to adjust it are proprietary?

Hahahahaha -- brilliant post! :D

And Marfione shames himself yet again. :barf: I guess there's nothing like stealing a design, tweaking it in a horrid way, and then laying back and letting the Kool-Aid swillers get their fill.

He should have stuck with the original Whale Shark design because that thing is fugly as sin.

Friends don't let friends buy Microtech.

So, where do they knock these knives off, anyway? China?
Is that real S35vn, or knocked-off S35vn?
I mean once you know they have no integrity, where does it stop?

It's changed quite a bit from their first iteration of the WS design by Johnny Liao.

I like the looks of it but I'm not sure I would pay for one. And I'm sure this fish ain't cheap.

Have you considered stealing one? Microtech doesn't mind that sort of thing. You'd still be hosed because of their proprietary screws though.

I don't know the whole story begind the zt/microtech thing just bits and pieces. I will say this is a china sebenza fake gonna be as good as a real sebenza?? Hell no, Zero tolerance is in my top 2 favorite knife companies, So yea the design might of gotten ripped off, but hey Thomas all of us Zero Tolerance knife owners know what kind of knife you guys make, and we know how outstanding your customer service is. You might have some people loving this desgn and getting the microtech version, but anyone who has owned a ZT before is gonna choose your knife over the other one any day of the week.

I'd buy one... if it weren't produced by Microtech's copy-machine.
Not to mention, I've heard nothing but horrible nightmares about Microtech's Customer Service.
Microtech is a stain on the industry.
Sorry about your new knife.
