If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and craps like a duck... People are getting really fed up with blatant ripoffs! At some point, you just get tired of the BS and start calling it like it is. So, a spade is just being called a spade here.

No, they're not ducks. They're ... um ... chickens. Can't you see they're chickens? They sound like chickens to me....

This will be my last comment on this thread, lest I gain a chicklet I do not want.

Some of you newer guys here just do not seem to get "it". :grumpy:

I can't wait for the spring break "season" to be over...

Have you considered stealing one? Microtech doesn't mind that sort of thing. You'd still be hosed because of their proprietary screws though.

OR, I could wait until a Chinese clone shows up on ebay and get one for under $50. :p

If some lowlife broke into you're house and stole you're possessions, how would you feel?I know I'll never buy a Microtech product!:thumbdn:

I got to the third "Wait, what?" and started cracking up. Well said, Thomas.

It's baffling that some people put no stock in integrity or accountability these days. To me, it's always been a big part of what separates the men from the boys.

Honestly, I quite like the design. Too bad it's made by Microtech.

I'd buy one... if it weren't produced by Microtech's copy-machine.

The really nice thing is, if you see a design you like, but don't care for Microtech, all you have to do is look around and you can probably find the same design done by the company that originally came up with it. ;)

One day Microtech will devise a thumbstud so large it will devour us all.

Well, technically, they'll wait for Kershaw to design it, then rush theirs to market, and then it will devour us all. But still.

GREAT line!!

Well, +1 to any real power is still, well, one. I have one MT - an Ultratech. It works quite well - and does not mimmic any other brand of knife that I an familiar with. One thing I read here - and elsewhere - that they haven't mastered is QC - and customer service. That would be a lot to copy... but a 'good thing' for the industry. The W-S does nothing for me.

+1 to both your posts. This thread sure highlights the ignorance and arrogance of some of our newer members. Such a shame. Can hardly wait for summer break.

Personal Insults just go to show your own Ignorance.Someones post count or join date tells you nothing about someones knowledge or experience.

You're certainly entitled to like what ever knives you want. I like many different knives and even own an Ultratech. Its a very fun knife.

However, the background in this situation isn't common knowledge to most folks outside of knife forums. Ignorance of that information isn't an insult, just an observation. Arrogance comes when presented with an opportunity to read up on the situation (see the link earlier in the thread) and still maintaining the same attitude. And if it weren't for the sordid story about their origins and the fact they're basically a slap-in-the-face rip-off, I'd be congratulating you on your purchases.

Kind of like that old joke: "Aside from that Mrs. Lincoln, how'd you like the play?"

ZT is all original, right? The liner lock on the 0200? Stolen by Michael Walker. The frame lock on the 0300? Stolen by Chris Reeve. The patents are pending.

Like in sports, it's the retaliatory attack that's usually a penalty because the refs don't see the original misconduct. ZT tried and failed to copy a Microtech OTF; then Microtech tried and succeeded in copying a ZT design.

Reduction to absurdity? Both Walker and Reeve declined to patent their locks so others could use them, since they saw them as incremental advances on locks already in use.

How come Microtech can't copy Kershaws/ ZT's customer service and warranty. I mean if Microtech is really looking for something to improve upon I think that would be a good place to start.

You are totally off base and seems like you aren't grasping why people despise Microtech. Sure all knives share certain features and design elements. With all the knife companies and makers its
almost impossible not to. BUT..... when an American company makes a CLONE of another American made product that is copied down to the exact T and slaps their name and logo on it and claims
it as there own your dealing with a real deushe bag. Especially considering the high anticipation and profile the 0777 has gained being Blades knife of the year.

And Microtech doesn't own the OTF concept and design. I wish Protech would starting producing OTF's so Microtech would finally have some competition. The only alternative to them is China made
pieces of crap so of course Microtech OTF's are going to seem so much better when in fact their just still in business by default.

First of all, Esav, why are you involved here? Are rules being violated? If not, then why throw your weight around?

Second, I level the same question at Thomas. Does a General topic really warrant your heavy hand every single time your pet peeve crops up? Boundaries dude!

Third, does this mean that Welk doesn't recognize the 777 / Knockout lock as an "incremental advance on locks already in use"? Because I believe that's exactly what it is. Why would a different set of rules apply to Kershaw than apply to Reeve & Walker?

Hey Thomas, be as territorial as you want to be, but could you at least call it what it is? And could you do it in your own subforum? Thank you.
