Uh,..today I received a couple of new Microtechs, and in the bottom of each box beneath the Microtech info...is a religious brochure. Actually it's like a comic book of sorts featuring Jesus as a SuperHero type. Now I can only presume one of two things here;
1. Microtechs are HOLY
2. Tony Marfione IS God

So which is it?

Or possibly you have other presumptions regarding this phenomena?

Yep, I too recieved a Microtech LCC a month ago with a Jack Chick publication. I thought it was a very odd thing for them to do, especially since many of those "comics" are pretty extreme. Some are just plain disturbing and might be offensive to some folks. Anyone have any ideas what's up?

Please, they're being environmentally responsible by using recycled packing materials. You should applaude them for this display of corporate citizenship.

Got one to.I don't think it is bad just not quite right. I get my religion in Church. Thank You.

Hey John (Hollister), you out there?? All along we thought that Ernie Emerson was God, and come to find out that it's Marfione. Maybe they're taking turns? Who wants to be God next month?? (This is your cue, Rearic!)

BTW Chuck, you might be right. All I know is that the brochure came in real handy for instantly testing the sharpness of my new MT's. I've got confetti all over the floor here. My MT's have now been truly blessed. Amen.

Maybe the Bible Tracts (as they are called) were slipped in the packages by a fundamental Christian employee that works in shipping. It's probably not a corporate effort.

No no no, its much more than that. Those brochures are a secret communication device, letting all the religious people know that time time is near to uprise against the rest of the world

Or maybe its the recyling thing, hard to tell

Whoever's doing it, may they keep up the good work of getting the Truth out. Chick tracts are great. Love 'em all.

Good deal! Two sharp objects for the price of one.

Don't need no religion with my knives (crosses microtech off top of "gotta have" list) Seriously, this type of force feeding of "The Word" is what pushes more and more thinking people away from religion. If I received a knife or anything else with religious or other propaganda I would return it post-haste and demand a full refund and reimbursement for shipping.

Volvi, I disagree. If a Microtech employee wants to evangelize, he or she should do it on hi/her own time at his/her own expense. I know that you are a strong conservative Christian but how would you feel if Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Santeria, etc. tracts were put in products you bought without your knowledge.

To make it clear, I wouldn't care if religious tracts were packaged with Microtech products as official policy as long as the company is upfront about it. That way a person buying a Microtech knife could make an informed decision about whether or not to purchase. I believe in freedom of religion, however, I don't want to bushwacked when my mind is elsewhere.

Guys, after making a few phone calls, the concensus seems to be that one particular Microtech distributor (or an employee of a distributor)is adding these Religious Comics to the MT boxes. Does the distributor have MT's approval to do so? I doubt it. Am I happy about paying $400 for a knife and having religion jump out of the box at me? No, not really, but it makes for a funny topic of conversation. I DO however think that MT needs to look into this matter and evaluate how to best handle it.
BTW, did I mention that one of the new MT's that I received today is SN 666?

Funny. I had the same sort of reaction as many of you when read the "butter knives" thread sort of demanding everyone join AKTI or something.

Seems to me that this is just the sort of thing that AKTI and those whose dread of the PC-types is hyper would applaud -- maybe organize. Sheeple ought to be terribly impressed that the Kestrels et al are going out with a "message." If Christians are making/selling knives they can't be so bad -- that kind of thing. Best thing that could happen for the image of knives, some might say.

Egad, what a bucket of worms.

I believe in God, I'm a Christian, sure, I vent...I get pissed. But I believe in God.

If I open a package from X Manufacturer and there is something in the package I don't agree with, oh well.

If it says Rosie O'Donnell is God, then I'm going to have a problem with it.

I don't see a problem with this, Tony Marfione is not showing up at your door and preaching the Gospel according to Ochs to you.

I personally think that Atheism has become an Organized Religion. If there was something like that in there, I would simply say out loud, "Whattadick," and promptly throw it in the circular file in the kitchen.

If you don't like tracts, Christianity, or anything like that, sure, you can not own some of the finest knives in the world...that's your choice. Or, you can simply throw it away.

Blair, you are an Agent Provocateur. This sounds like the first topic for the Rearic Rant on your site.

With so much sh!t going on in the world today this is what you guys have to b!tch about?

Give me a break. By the way I have only received tracks in MT boxes from 1 distributor. I have no idea who is putting them in. But I choose to deal with it the same way I do if I see Rosie on the tube. Remove it if it offends me and never look back.

That being said there are a lot worse crimes against knife enthusiasts than offering a little biblical guidance.

I think one could argue that turn about is fair play.

We have propaganda crammed down our throat every day by the liberal media, Liberal Democrat politicians who want nothing more than to be in front of the camera and school systems trying to parents to our kids. Not to mention all the whiners who thinks the world owes them something.

What's the difference between giving Rosie O’Donnell her own talk show and someone circulating religious materials? Both serve their own cause.

I personally don't care much for the tactic and when my new LCC came a few weeks ago I threw out the pamphlet I got with it and never gave it another thought.

If circulating this material is condoned by MT then your only recourse is to stop buying their knives. I personally will continue to buy them because they are excellent and for that reason alone.

2 words come to mind, America and Capitalism. They have the choice because this is America and you have the choice because of Capitalism.

Don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

Personally, I'm not bitching about it at all. I think the whole situation being a controversy is illustrative of a Society that tends to not concentrate on serious things and instead dwells on trivialities.

The reason I added the "Rosie" comment is because she is anti-gun, which means she is probably anti-knife and anti-self defense, I would then consider that stupid and hypocritical that a company like Microtech would support that.

Don, I would be honored to be your agent. We shall arrange this soon. Consider my site to be your venting place. I will never attempt to persuade nor alter your viewpoints in any way; just keep entertaining me by dazzling myself and others with your....Rearicness.

MT makes some wicked (heavenly?) knives. As I stated before, this religious literature does not seem to be authorized by them, but if it is? I don't care. They make blades which are often marvels of engineering, and I trust my own MT's for daily carries.
I didn't intend for any of this to become a religious debate. My intent was to find out where these mysterious pieces of literary abortions are coming from. Seriously, these "tracts" appear as if the guy who writes for Mad Magazine got himself a night job. I keep waiting for Alfred E. Newman to show up on the last page with his goofy-toothed grin, but I must've already reduced that page to tatters with my new S3 (Scary Scalpel Sharp) Microtechs.
