Military, tip up option?

I could see why leftists would want the option to switch sides, but I’ve never understood the preference some people have for the blade pointing up or down in the pocket—as long as the blade doesn’t open on its own. I don’t remember ever needing the extra millisecond it takes to open a folder either way. Since any particular day I could have 1 of 20 different knives clipped to my pocket or on a sheath, I’m always prepared to open a folder from any orientation.

As I said, for me it's more the width of the Mili at the spydie-hole end (closed) that blocks the pocket. I reach in my pocket more often than I withdraw my knife, so that is the issue I have with the Mili in stock tip-down configuration. My method works great for my hands - no need to re-grip to open and use the knife.

I hadn’t thought of that. I hope my post didn’t sound judgemental, there are many things I don’t understand.

I drilled into the g10. Screwed in the screws with gorilla glue (expanding type) in the threads. No problems. Its been 9 month. Ive even removed the clip once because I got it caught in something and bent it. Went right back on. Side note- factory clip becomes left hand tip up because of its curve.
Ah shoot, never seem that curve. Well there goes any ideas I had for ever getting a Millie and modding it!

Nothing goes in my knife pocket but a knife. Non-issue.

I am with you 5x5. Also remember the millie was deigned to be used with gloves. The tip down clip places a good grabable piece of the millie above the pocket to facilitate an easy grab with gloves. Once drawn there is no need to shuffle the knife to find the spyder hole. The knife just lands how it needs to be. I frequently wear gloves at work and the millitary just seems to operate itself when I have gloves on. For me there is no difference, gloved or bare handed, the Military just works.

Same here, I use a lot of my knives with gloved hands. Tip down is the way to go with gloves on!

I have not bought several knives because of tip down only. I can carry the Military tip down without it bothering me to much. The Military is the only knife I have that is tip down carry.

I generally prefer tip up carry, but I can be OK with tip down with some knives. In the late '90s/early 2000s, I carried a BM AFCK, and I've also carried my SS Police a lot (both tip-down).

Oddly enough, the only time a folder in my pocket ever cut my hand was a SS Rookie (tip down). I reached into my pocket for something else, and as I was withdrawing my hand, the Rookie somehow opened slightly, and I cut my finger on the tip.

For some positions, I find tip down actually easier to access, such as IWB carry. But for the most part, as mentioned above, I do prefer tip down. I'm perfectly fine with the Military as is, but I can see why someone would like the tip up option.

Nice! Definite improvement - looks super clean. The stock lanyard tube gives a surface for the screw and threaded insert to bottom out against, so it can be torqued tight enough to resist clip rotation. On those inserts, do the ribs actually touch the lanyard tube?

I was hoping the ribs would touch, but the insert is just a hair smaller than the lanyard tube. I put a wrap of gaff tape on it to make it a snug fit, nice and tight on all 3 for daily carry. There are a variety of other inserts available with incrementally larger diameters that I will eventually try out. If I recall correctly, the ID of the lanyard tube is 6.4mm.

Didn't want to risk damaging the lanyard tube. Also didn't want to buy the tool.
