Pocket Clip and Screw × 2
Large Sebenza 21 / Small Sebenza 21 / Umnumzaan

Had to drill out the clip a bit for the bigger screws.

Tip up is my preferred carry, but I'm OK with the Military tip down. It nestles into a hip pocket just fine and I've adapted.

I've converted a couple, one CF (G10 would be the same) and one Ti. Send me a PM if you want anymore details.

EZ Lok 240-002-BR, 2-56 Flush Press Insert, Brass. 1/8" drill. Super easy. I'll mail you a few if you would like.

Drilling and tapping Ti was easy with a little reading (drill underwater, use #48 drill, not #50, 2-56 Tap, use tapping lubricant of course).

I machined it all from 6AL-4V titanium. But it's more or less a hollow 1/4-24 screw with a jam nut on the other side.

What type of hardware did you use? It looks like you did a fantastic job! Kudos! Thanks for any info you can provide.

Thank you. I didn't document the process because it's not something the average Joe can do.

I have an S110V millie that needs to be modded. I'm just waiting for the REX-45 millie to drop so I can do both at once. It's a lot of work for what it is. Me an my stupid lanyards. Lol

I would think the pocket clip orientation would be a part of CQI. I am one that also would love to see a tip down Military.

No thanks,,,, I have carried my Military models tip down for over 20 years.
Tip up is not a Military.
If it is a problem in RH pocket,,, just use a nylon belt pouch,,, smoother easier operation with tip down.

The Military works very efficiently tip-down. If you convert it to tip-up you convert a good one-hand knife into a 2-hand knife. The belt pouch is a good option, or just remove the clip and put it in your pocket, it's almost as fast that way as it would be tip up.

Not in my experience. Zero problem drawing, opening & closing in one hand and in one grip position with my setup.

The main reason I use tip-up carry is that it keeps the pivot relatively protected from dust and grit. And obviously it's safer in terms of having the blade open in your pocket.

Tip down right handed knives just are very weird to carry in my left front pocket. A right handed tip up sits just fine.

I program and run a 5 axis dmg mori NLX 2500 sy. If you need a hand I'd be willing to help out, I've wanted a frame lock military for a long while but the tip down only is a no go, with this mod I'd by a military.

I'm a tip up guy, and have only 2 tip down folders, one of them a Military. I have no problem carrying tip down, I just don't like the clip at that end when handling and using the knife.
The Military clip is fairly flat so not really a problem like that, but I tried a deep carry clip on a tip down folder and did not like it in hand. YMMV.

I do prefer the Military tip up myself.

This thread got me thinking so this is where I am so far. Going to grind the non clip side to look a bit cleaner probably. The clip doesn't move side to side at all.
It was a bit bent and I tightened it down by spinning the clip around, so it tightened itself.

...when I draw it, my hand is exactly where it needs to be in order to open it, no shuffling needed. The handle is so long that tip-up would necessitate some shuffling to get a good grip (for my hands, at least); tip-down is perfect for this knife.

This is my opinion too. I held off on buying a Military for a long time because of the "tip-down" issue. When I finally bought one, the design made complete sense. Now I wouldn't want it any other way. My only regret is that I waited so long to buy one.

Having said that, I do realize that it's not for everyone.

Nicely done. I love the Military in this configuration.

My sebenza clip was already tied up as I'm using it for the Mantra and i didn't want to drill it. I removed it from small sebbie. The wireclip from mantra went to cutjack and i like manly peak without a clip. Its a backlock and i just throw it in pocket.
The sebenza clip is an ergonomic wonder though. I'm pretty sure it's very comfortable on military.
I was also entertaining an idea of putting spyderco wireclip on the Military and its very doable, but i would have to grind the g10 and liner tube a bit to make it perfect.
I kind of know what im going to do now with the nonclip side. I'll post update later.
I'm used to tip up knives and pretty stoked to have it this way. This manly clip is a bit uncomfortable, if you hold the knife at the very end, it rubs on the palm of your hand, but regular use not just handling in various grips its perfect.

No one should "have" to modify there military. Disagree with me if you like, but the PM2 has the tip up option. Based on that, I would surmise that the Military machinery and assembly line is not fitted to drill the other end of the scales. Seems like a simple fix? Well changing things out and reconfiguring a line is costly and to what end does it benefit the companies bottom line? To me it seems like a simple cost vs revenue situation. People keep buying the military regardless of the tip up option, the whole "well the washers would get dirty" is bs and total crap. They COULD do it, they don't need to. It would take re-doing there current clip association on the military like the PM2 and re-doing there lineup, if the consumer can do it, a big company surely can....they chose not to. I am not bashing Spyderco, I own several Militarys and PM's. I just think all this modification by the end user is unnecessary and should be and should have already been done by the company itself....its a few screw holes. Over a decade I have no idea how many threads have centered around this or threads that have tailed into this. Spyderco can do it.....they chose not to. I am a HUGE Spydie fan, just hate the BS of how it "should be" not how "the consumer wants options".

I get that there will be folks that like tip up carry, but I'm pretty versatile and I love my Millies just the way they are. The issues of tip up or tip down are not an issue to me I guess.
