Misinformed Becker hate?

Yes, the Buck 119 that he likes so well has the same tang (size and configuration) as the Kabar 1217 (aka 1219C2) per gubmint specs that he is so against.

That being said, he is not the first person I've seen poo-poo the Kabar for it's tang type, and then turn around and sing the praises of some other knife that has the same tang configuration.

I call it "Internet Plagiarism" where some fool makes a mistake in the internet (or some other media) and other folks take it as gospel and never do any real research before spouting their "lack of wisdom". The "V44" Marine Raider Bowie myth is another one, based on incorrect print media.

My favorite part is where the guy called the A1 and Buck 119 "drop points".

I also really enjoyed how he said things like carbon steel is sharper, explained how "flat ends" (lol, didn't even bother to research enough to know what that area of the knife was called) were important, as was a flat top (again, he apparently doesn't know that there are names for these).

He also makes the assumption that thick == good, handle grooves == good, and that all partial/hidden tang knives will break.

Not to mention saying things like "for beheading your neighbor". This guy is a real class act.

If only there was some sort of competency test before you could write articles and post them for all to see :/. The upside at least is that his photos are clearly labeled with "flat end" and other useful knife anatomy information :P.

Does anybody know where I can get the black grivory replacement handles? Not the ugly colored ones that are sold in sets!

Buy a Becker, and a set of micarta, G10, or wood scales...install the new scales. Look down - black grivory replacement scales. YAY!!!

I need extra ones! A copy of the same ones that come on the knife. I want to stipple them

I wrote a response to his article, let's see if he posts it! :)

You should have linked him this thread...

Damn...... This thread kept growing soooo........ I figured to check it out....., which made me wish you all had quit days ago..... The poor fellow is, indeed, sadly under informed ......... His opinion of the Two not withstanding, his assessment of most of the other blades displays a pretty severe lack of background....... As for instance, the Chris Reeve hollow handled blades will withstand a close (if not direct) encounter with a medium sized nuclear device...... Examples abound...... But, it must all be true 'cause I read it on the internet....... Oh, well.....

Atleast you have a loyal following that'll stand up for a knife and brand they love...The bk2 is my all time favorite knife, I always have one on me or nearby. If things go south a have a knife I can truly rely on.

You don't see any Gerber fans defending Gerber and there lmf2 lol

Nice bk2's

I believe you can call Ka-bar during normal business hours and order stock Grivory handles. Not sure what they'll charge. I seem to remember seeing this some time ago.

Now, having read the poor fellow's article, I feel even more compelled to link this 32 second clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Prp615mmDk

If I were to believe the poor fellow, there will be lots of room in my safe once I get rid of the prime occupants - Becker knives and Chris Reeve One Piece Range knives.

Ill take them off of your hands Salty. I'll even pay the shipping! Hell, for good measure, put that new zt450 in the box as well.

Lol, congrats on the win, what color ano are you going with?

Who do I sue to get the last ten minutes of my life back?

The best survival knife is the one you have on you when shtf.

I read his article, and I want my five minutes back...he's never even handled half of those knives.
The Fallkniven is a nice knife-but I'll get further in a survival situation with a BK2 and $130... Or a Mora and $190...
