Resolved - liberty cap

I agreed to buy his NIB BlackJack Blackmoor Dirk he had advertised here on BladeForums.com. He told me he only takes payment by paypal gift option. So I sent it to him that way. Box arrived five days later. Opened it up and NO Blackjack Dirk, instead there was an old Gerber folding knife.
Though maybe it was an honest mistake, so I sent him a couple of emails letting him know what I received. Its now been ten days and have heard nothing back from him.

Please provide a link to the sale thread in question. I checked all liberty caps posts and cannot find where he advertised a blackjack blackmoor dirk for sale on BFc.

Not much you can do thru paypal to get your money back. You forfeited your buyer protection when you paid by gift option. Paying for items by gift option is dishonest and against paypal policy because they lose their fee for the transaction. One should never purchase items using the gift option or patronise sellers who request that you do so. You may turn him into paypal for breaching their clearly stated policy, but since you accepted his offer and were a party to this dishonest practice, they may do nothing at all or freeze/remove both of your accounts.

Because you sent the funds as a "gift", your bank probably will not have any recourse that will help you either.

You may however contact the USPS postal inspectors at https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/ and turn him in for mail fraud. You can also contact your local law enforcement and file a claim there and also file a claim with his local law enforcement. Once one of those agencies contact him, maybe you will get some action.

Never use the gift option. If you want to use PayPal add the 3.5% cost of the item and ask for "goods". If the seller won't do that, don't buy the item.
 
I have not received any emails from AstralPlane since December 18th when the buyer asked if the knife had been sent. I show the knife ordered arriving on December 20th. I have heard nothing since then. I also do not show any messages via BladeForum. If the person needs to contact me and wants to assure the message arrived, please do so via private message on BladeForum. Really hate that this kind of post has been put out there for all to see without first confirming contact with me. The only way I knew this post was out there is because an administrator contacted me and gave me a heads up. Thank you for that! If the buyer has a concern, please just PM me. I asked that this thread be removed to avoid further embarrassment.

I sent you several emails to the same email address you used to conduct the transaction w/ me. Bottom line I paid you for a Blackjack blackmore Dirk and Got a Gerber Folding knife.

What do you have to say about that???

I checked the original post and he removed the part about a Blackjack being for sale. Then the post was closed.

So your saying that you bought a BlackJack Blackmoor Dirk from liberty cap and he sent you a crappy old Gerber knife in stead?

I'd be a little upset to say the least...

Care to offer one about the knife mix up?
 
it was mentioned that post edits are stored, so I guess a super, or at least Spark, should be able to verify that the Blackjack was listed for sale.

you could also forward to a mod any emails used in the transaction that mentioned the same knife.
 
I sent two knives the same day. Apparently I sent them to the wrong addresses as they were in identical USPS boxes. I have not heard from the other person I sent a knife to. Send the knife back and I will refund your money. Include the shipping cost to return by USPS Priority Mail to be refunded as well. Sorry for the mix up.

I just refunded AstralPlane's original purchase price and shipping via Paypal without receiving the afore mentioned incorrect knife. I will wait to receive the knife. I would appreciate some modification of the title of this thread. Again, I wished I had known about this earlier. BTW if the boxes were crossed the Gerber received was a mint 1996 Limited Production Fairbairn Sykes folder, not a crappy old Gerber. :D Again, sorry for the mix up.

Unfortunately no refund has been sent/received to my paypal account.

Yes, I did receive a Gerber Knife marked 1996 Combat Folder.

I just checked Paypal. It shows refund pending until Dec 31st. I guess it takes time to move money. I have never done a refund before. I have also emailed you the transaction ID for the refund. Let me know that you receive it.

Have you heard back at all from the other guy you shipped the Blackjack dagger to? If he received a more valuable knife by mistake and has not acknowledged it then I would like to know who it is if he is a Bladeforums member. He should be sending you that knife back if he was supposed to receive the Gerber folder instead so the deal can be straightened out or he should pay you the difference if he intends to keep it.
 
I can wait till Dec 31st but my PP account shows no pending refund or reversal for the original transaction. Can you check and make sure you refunded the correct person (me).

And yes I will send you back your Gerber. I am sure somebody might like it. Its just not for me. I wanted the Effingham/Japan Blackjack.

You will receive no notification, it will just show up in your account in a couple days.

Liberty Cap can do a print screen of his Paypal account showing refund if he knows how. It's kind of hacking, but the alternative is him sending you his username/password :eek:
