Mixup corrected by - liberty cap - New Question 12/31/10

My account does reflect a refund from Liberty Cap. Question? - he wants the wrong knife that he sent returned to him. I will be more than happy to do so but should I have to pay for it. Return shipping in a small flat rate box w/ delivery conf. is $5.00. Small amount but considering its not my mistake and also the knife I paid for is being enjoyed by someone else.

What do you think.

LibertyCap said in Post #10 that he would cover the return shipping cost of the wrong knife. He also ask AstraPlane to include that cost.

LC said in post #10 to let him know the shipping cost back to him and he would send it to you. Like hatchetjack said, you two should probably just work out the details between yourselves. LC made a mixup and is handling it very well. It happens. Been there, done that.

Edit: Paul beat me to it. :)

I think it is your obligation to return the knife immediately if your refund has already been received.
If he was honest enough to refund you in full then you should trust him to also refund the $5.00 for the flat rate shipping without holding HIS knife hostage.

Just reading the last posts. I had already said to let me know what return shipping costs would be and I would take care of it. I refunded your money without receiving the knife back. Tried to show good faith because I made a mistake and shipped you the wrong item. Again, I wish you had contacted me via email and ask that question of me, not other forum members? I will refund your return shipping as I previously stated. Please let me know when the knife is on the way back to me.

I request that this thread now be closed. The problem has been resolved. I will refund AstralPlane's $5.00 return shipping cost upon receipt of the returned knife as I said I would when I realized I have shipped knives to the wrong addresses (Post # 10). I want to thank all of the members for their positive responses here on this thread. I only received one negative PM from a moderator who told me my reputation and membership were in danger...after I posted that I had refunded AstralPlanes money via Paypal. Same one who apparently did not read Post #10, but read all of the others. ;) Anyway, thanks to the rest of you.

Happy New Year!

I sent him a couple of emails letting him know what I received. Its now been ten days and have heard nothing back from him.

He Did...when he got no response, he came here looking for advice. Perhaps they were in your junk mail and went unnoticed?
Perhaps if you conduct your business in a more upfront manner and communicate better, these things won't happen in the future.

Kudo's to you for stepping up and taking care of the problem.

Here's what I hink. You are a small man, my friend. Send the darn knife back already.

You "hink" improperly then. He wouldnt have had to worry about shipping it back at all, if the right knife had been sent in the first place.
Easy to call someone small, until it comes out of your pocket thru no fault of your own.

Same thing you put in your PM. Check my feedback, and by the way I PAID for the right to sell on Bladeforum. I fixed a mistake as soon as I realized there was a problem. Perhaps it should be a requirement that buyers and sellers BOTH have the PM message system open in case of an email breakdown. That was not the case in this situation. If it had not been for Esav contacting me on the 28th I would not have known there was a problem for several more days. For what ever reason I did not receive an email from AstralPlane from December 18th (to which I responded) when the knife was on its way until after the forum posts on December 28th. I told you I am new to this forum in my PM. Do I have to post on other forums if I buy and sell? Should I not clean up my ads after a sale has been made, if so then just say so and I will know next time? How much more upfront can I be? Right now I am the one with no knife and no money, because I made the mistake. I would call that being a Stand Up seller, being responsible and taking care of things. From the posts on this thread it appears that EVERYONE else agrees, except for you. Don't give me Kudos for fixing something in the same thread as the quote above. YOU make to many assumptions about my character, and you seem to be intent on ruining my reputation here and I do not know why. Enough is enough from you!

Mea Culpa on the spelling, great work Karda ! I'd like to say that the OP jumped the gun by opening this thread. He has his money and the knife and now he can't make up his own mind whether or not to pony up the 5 bux to send it back? The seller had already agreed to pick up that charge. THAT is what I call small, my friend.

I think Cap did the right thing and did it quickly as soon as he was advised of a problem, unlike many others.

I received a Paypal request for payment of $5.50 for return shipping from AstralPlane this morning, which I have paid. So for the record I have refunded the original purchase and shipping as well as return shipping for the Gerber I sent to the wrong address...before having the knife returned. To my knowledge I cannot be any more agreeable than that.

Good job lc way to be stand up. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with you at all. For a mod to jump on your back over this is wrong in my opinion, you did the right thing just as soon as you were made aware of it and that's the best any one can ask for. I tip my hat to you sir.

I agree, well said.

So Liberty Cap, did you ever hear back from the other guy that got the wrong and I assume more valuable knife? If not and he is a Bladeforums member then I think you should tell us who he is so we can avoid dealing with him.

This thread was a waste. Astralplane should have handled this outside of this Forum...and once it was made right you posted another question about shipping (which had already been addressed by the seller). I would also suggest paying the more than reasonable annual fee to become a paid-member on BF, thereby allowing you to receive private messages. If you are going to receive a benefit from using BF (e.g., having a safe, respectable place to buy knives), I think you should give back to help the site stay up and running. But that's another topic.
