Mnandi: My latest Obsession

Every bit as good lookin' .... and that Madagascar rosewood is really stunning!

"Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in." Okay .... this was getting too close to the bottom of page one .... so a little teaser! Thought I would be content with the 6 Mnandis I have .... until today. After having just spent wad cash on a Custom Elishewitz this morning and a new LionSteel TS1 earlier in the month ..... I had the dumb luck of spotting a newly-in-stock little Mnandi. At first glance, I zipped right by it. However, I found myself going back and back and back to look closer at it. It didn't have that "wow" appeal that normally strikes me when I see something I want .... but there was just something about it. Figured .... what the heck .... after all, it's Christmas. If I am going to be broke ... why not be broke big time!! Pics in about a week (hopefully) to again bring this thread to the top!
 
Like I said, "Just when I thought I was out .... they pull me back in!" I really had no plans of adding another Mnandi so soon, but ...! I looked at this one practically as soon as ES put it up. Initially, didn't give it a second thought. I found myself, however, going back and back to look at it. There was just something about it that kept making me look closer at it. Normally, it is not something that I fall in love with immediately. Over the course of a day or so, I found the creamy colors of the scales, the spots of blue near the pivot, and the color variations on the rear scale very appealing the more time I spent looking at the knife. So .... to make a long story short .....

Now, I have one for every day of the week ....... BUT, 7 is an odd number, what shall I do? :rolleyes:
 
Nice, I like the aged look of the mammoth. Dennis, you have some wonderful pictures in your album of your collection.
 
Thanks Tom. The pics in my collection are actually a little lower quality than these (more compressed and a tad smaller) ... as I try to conserve a little space there. But, they still fairly adequately depict the knives.

Jusy an FYI, I snagged a couple Mnandis recently. One is a nice enough looking Macassar Ebony that happens to share my late husband's birthday. The other is one of those BladeHQ Honduran Rosewood's like the beauty posted above. I can't post pics, or even see them until I get out of the hospital, but I'll show them off soon. ;)

The mammoth damascus was indeed a stunner - I looked long and hard at it before deciding to hold off for a mammoth with an old-styled pivot, but it certainly gave me pause.

Congrats on you Rosewood score - I'm glad to hear you were able to nab one! Hopefully your hospital visit is nothing serious and you can get to posting those photos soon :)

Oh - and d.r.h - fantastic!

Thanks. It's serious, but not for this thread. BTW, my inbound Honduran is a lefty. Maybe the only lefty of that batch, I don't know. Here's a pic the seller posted of it.

Nice lefty Mnandi there Lone_Wolfe, can't wait to see a better pic. You can tell it's going to be nice, but it's too much in a shadow in that particular pic.

SURE DID! If everything roles smoothly there's a chance it'll be in my pocket Monday....no later than Wednesday ;) I am ALWAYS the one that just misses ones like that......not this time. A special thanks to those you have turned down my ridiculous offers for their knives. I landed a stunner, and it didn't cost me my first born.

Nice lefty Rosewood....:) I have a rightly in the same and it's gorgeous. You might have the only lefty in that wood in existence.
