Mnandi: My latest Obsession

I was going to take a photo of the "woods", but I have another incoming, so I did the "barks" instead:

Thanks masterserg, when I get a chance to post, I would love your opinion on the bark I collected so far.

Each one is nicer than the next. I especially like the golden bocote with tight fine lines ... Not to mention the elephant (or zebra) in the room. Congrats!

Oh ... c'mon dude ... do you REALLY need any opinions??? That collection (or sub-collection) is insanely beautiful and awesome, almost intimidating ... :D

My two favorites in no particular order:

- The inlaid gold / diamond with snakeskin!
- The fifth from the left, with the vines and roses (I think that's what is called) damascus. The transtion from brown/green to cream is just one of the nicest I have seen. Very very beautiful! And as nice as that is, I think the back is even better!

I could just stare for hours :)

Here's another of my humble mammoth Mnandi (back side this time) ...

Beautiful collection Dino, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for starting a thread that through lots of contributions has showcased the little marvel of a knife called the Mnandi.

Thanks Lisa and Thanks masterserg for your kind words. There's nothing I enjoy more than sharing with my brothers and sisters.

I have been enjoying all of the great pictures so I wanted to share the twins again

Man .... I've been tied up for the better part of a day, come here only to find that between this and the Damascus thread ..... you guys are killing me! This is WAY too much excitement for one sitting!!!

Thanks for all of the comments, I wish I had Dennis as a neighbor to use his skills and camera for a better picture of them. They are impressive when I hold them together in my hand. Interesting mammoth bark. I wish the factory had a larger chunk of that bark and used it in a large annual sebenza back in 2008, it would be very very cool.

Thanks Tom ..... but you folks are giving me way too much credit. Trust me ... it's really a hit or miss thing. Look, reposition, take shots, scratch my head, reposition again, take more shots and maybe .... just maybe ... something will come out okay!! But I'll tell you what ..... send those two cuties to me for a couple months and I'll see what I can do!!!!! :eagerness:
