Mnandi: My latest Obsession

I guess for me the Mnandi is more about fondling than using, and in a way the Sebenza is more useful but there are other brands I am exploring at this time for larger knives. I think the Mnandi's are a perfect small knife for sure!

Serg ...

For me ... the Mnandi is just more aesthetically pleasing. My tastes are moving more toward smaller folders (for the most part). Unless something really special comes along, will probably limit my large Sebenzas to what I have now. Any new CRKs added will be Mnandis and small Sebenzas. Hopefully, they will decide to make small 25s with either nice graphics or natural material inlays. Funny how things work out. My first Mnandi was an Ebony / Ladder Dam. At that time, I told myself I only wanted one more .... an Ivory to go with my Ebony. By the time I got the Ivory, I was hooked. There are now 10 in my collection and can't imagine parting with any of them!

I already decided that any Sebenza I add will be small ... unless Franz decides to have NO Sebenzas ;) ... so maybe I am headed in that direction as well ...

Serg,
I use and enjoy my Large Sebenzas as my edc knives and I have enough of them that I don't see myself adding any more to what I presently have. I am finding however, that the Mnandi is taking the place of my Small Sebenza as my second knife and useful for the smaller chores like opening the mail, etc. I also like the fact that I can carry my Mnandi clipped in my shirt pocket or the front placket of my shirt. I can see that I will be selling my Small Sebenzas and replacing them with Mnandis. It is just a personal preference but the combination of the Mnandi and the Large Sebenza just seems "right" to me. I do appreciate the way the inlays are designed and the upscale look and feel of the knife in general. When there's work to do I reach for the Large Sebenza. When I want to spend time with an elegant little gem out comes the Mnandi. I honestly can't choose a favorite between the two models, Sebenza vs. Mnandi. For me each has its place.

Me too! The Sebenza 25 is all the big knife I need around the house. The small Sebenza is the perfect balance between cutting power and portability. I also agree with Franz, the Mnandis seem better suited to fondling (they are just too nice to use); the Small Sebenza just begs to tear into some mail.

Added a Mammoth Ivory today:

Wow .... really love the way the raindrop tightens at the tip .... heck, love the whole package ..... but the tip ..... priceless!

OK. You all are killing me. I'm dead set on getting a Mnandi next year to celebrate a milestone birthday (two kids in college prevent an earlier purchase). Every time I think I know what I want, I pull up this thread and think I should go another way.

Lisa, that Ivory Damascus combo is a killer. Not at all something I thought about until I saw that photo. Thanks for posting.
