Modified Production Knives (traditional only)

Has anyone ever done a blade swap on a #15 beer scout knife from a sheepsfoot blade to a spear? I have a beer scout, which I love, but I'm not crazy about sheepsfoot blades and am considering making the swap.

believe that configuration exists as a rendezvous special once upon a time, but uh given the skills of current modders, shouldnt be too hard. just a matter of having the donor parts these days.

New scales, rounded the sides and did some filework on the lock bar. Fun project.

I thought it was going to be a fixed blade for a while. Epoxy oozed everywhere. Luckily acetone, brass rod and sharpened kabob sticks really did a good job cleaning it up.

This purpleheart is gorgeous I wish I could find more. I'm saving my last piece for something really special!

That Purpleheart is amazing. I’d love to get my hands on some even close to that quality!

Thanks! If I had known it was going to turn out to be this nice I would have saved it for a knife I wasn't going to use to death!

Unfortunately it was just a random eBay purchase and not from an actual supplier.

I’ve made no secret that I’m not a fan of most of GEC’s jigging…. So I figured I’d have my 2023 #34 forum knife recovered in mammoth ivory. The work was done by the very talented David Valdivieso (pictures by David also!).

I’m really excited to get this one back in hand. :)

I took a file to the main blade of the old ‘The Ideal’ knife I had previously modified the pen blade on. Originally it had a sort of clip point with a very thick and rounded tip:

Sharpened it up after re-shaping the tip, thinning it, and putting sort of a swedge in it:

I like it better now, and it cuts well:

I agree. I bought a 50 pack of white bone and all of them are blemish free. I even made 3 guitar nuts from that pack and they're pure white.
What I don't really like about the white smooth bone from Case ( It is good for dying) is that it's not pure white, and It seems like you could shine a bright flashlight through it.
I sure would love to know the type of bone they're using and what they're doing to it.

A few that I’ve modified in the past few months. It’s a dangerous side of the hobby 😅

GEC 15 “huckleberry boys knife” recovered in giraffe bone.
