Modular Leather Becker Sheaths(Pic Heavy) *UPDATE*

 Best leather sheath idea i have seen in long time. Thank you for the great post, pics and prototypes. These sheaths must be very versatile and fully customizable. Your fixation system with wood screws, fantastic. Never seen before in a leather sheath !
Keep on with this ideas !

Brilliant modular concept! Reminds me of why people like Chinese food: so many options! A standardized set of components that one can modify to their individual needs is a great way to appeal to all sorts of folks. Totally bad ass, man.

Looks cool, too :D

FINALLY, a sheath done right. I REALLY like the ring between the belt loop & the sheath. I have been doing that for years. I have converted all of my sheaths to this setup. I use double snap belt keepers & then attatch a store bought heavy gauge split D ring, or if the belt loop is too wide, I just make my own D ring. It allows you to wear it on your leg with NO BINDING AT ALL when sitting, squating, working.
Absolutely AWESOME work. Looking forward to its evolution.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I am going to try and get this get this design all hammered out very soon. There are still a few measurments here and there that need to be tweaked. Once I get the final template finished, I can get dies made.

This is beautiful work. Would they all be flat bottomed? IMO, it would look awesome if the sheath followed the contours of the blade.

I would have done something like that, but then I would loose alot of real estate for the front panel accesories. Its possible that I may notch the end on the BK9 sheath, perhaps something like this \__/

As my 2 year old son would say- "Want/NEED!". Seriously, if this is the result of a Minnesota winter, more power to you yankees. Well thought out, functional, you name it. Makes me wanna buy another BK2 just to have that sheath. Maybe an ESEE-5 to fit your sheath system?!? Just throwing out possibilities. Very nice work, keep everyone here up to date. You're gonna sell alot of those suckers.

I have thought about ESEE knives for this. Pretty much any knife would work that will fit between the threaded inserts, 2" is about the maximum blade width I could fit in there. All the accesories would be the same, and only the main sheath platform would be specific to the knife.

would it be possible to make these for other knives? I was thinking maybe a Busse ASH 1 or a TBT2...it looks like all you would need is a blade length x width measurement and a handle circumference ;)

you could almost use the sheath to MAKE knives with :) awesome.

I don't normally like leather, but man do I want one!!

some absolutely beautiful work man please keep us updated on what you would charge/when we can buy!!!

That's simply amazing, absolutley genious!!

I must ask, what dye did you use on that first sheath you posted? I love the rich reddish colour.

I am very surprised to not see any input from Moose on this, he is usually very on the ball.

Good luck Goose, make sure to keep us in the loop, you will move a lot of em once they hit production, that is a certainty. Any idea on a price point? The modularity of the design is great in that you can get what you want without having to pay for a bunch of stuff you don't, and should help to keep cost reasonable as well (i.e. not as pricey as some leather sheaths out there).

Sweeeeeeet ! Great ideas.

I'm looking at a new sheath(s) - just what I need MORE options (lol)

Really is nice stuff. Thanks for the pics.

That sheath was dyed a Mahogany color.

The price is to be determined right now. There are still a few things I need to work out with materials and such. I plan on selling these as the base sheath platform, with the belt loop. Then the user can select the accesories from there. I will be offering a couple different types of front panels as well as building custom ones that are tailored to the customers needs. I've got a few ideas of making MOLLE mounts for the back of the sheath and an attachment for a leg strap as well.

That sentence right there should win an award.

OP, that sheath is so the tits, you should be charging us dollar bills to look at it. I hate leather sheaths, I mean downright cannot stand them, but this, I would buy it and be happy. Brilliant idea, brilliant execution, and some really top notch looking work. The modular attachment idea alone is so effing smart I think I need to go back to college man. Seriously, like one of the greatest things I have ever seen on this site.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Brilliant just Brilliant !!

Love this post.

Thanks

You really should think about some kind of protection (legal) for the attachment system. I've never seen it before and it might be unique. Brilliant idea. I still think you could beat the shit out of a zebra with it.
