Modular Leather Becker Sheaths(Pic Heavy) *UPDATE*

This is some fantastic leather work. This stuff looks great. And I'm not usually a fan of leather. Keep up the great work.

I REALLY like the way these are made. I just noticed that the retention straps are removeable & replaceable---are they like that on all your sheaths ? This has always been a BIG concern of mine, as i cut one off while drawing the knife out---while out in the field. That sucked. Would be nice to have a few extras JIC. Anything for the BK10/LE yet ?

Sweet bro!!! Do you have any pix of it mounted???

I plan to have some posted by this weekend, got a few other orders to finish up.

Yeah I have been doing replaceable retention straps on alot of my other sheaths lately. I've cut a few straps before, and on a permanently attached retention strap, you've basically got a junk sheath at that point. If you ever cut one, just let me know and I can send you one.

I am also working on a way to make the retention straps pivot out of the way. There are times when I am in camp that I just leave the snap unfastened and slide my BK2 back into the sheath and it stays put because I build these sheaths with a bit of a friction fit. It works out well when you are in camp and drawing and resheathing your knife alot. Then when you are finished, just flip the strap back up and fasten it down.

I do not own a BK10, so I am not sure if it would fit in the sheath or not. From measurements I have gotten from people, it could fit into the confines of this sheath template. It would have to in order for me to offer a sheath for it, because otherwise I would have to redesign the entire sheath for an extra .5". If anyone is willing to borrow me their BK10 for a little bit, I can see if it would work. I will reimburse for the shipping charges.

Thanks bro, I will have to take you up on that offer.

I have seen the straps with elastic pulls through them so when you unsnap it pulls it back.

While that is a good design, it is actually patented by Paul Scheiter of Hedgehog Leatherworks.

First and foremost, Excellent work Goose. I WILL be picking up one of your modular sheaths for my BK-2 here soon. I was wondering.... After browsing your webpage I had noticed you have molle attachments for the USMC ka-bar. Is there an option to add that to the BK2 modular sheath you make?

Thanks,

Kris

@ Goose,

small d rings on the straps with the wide elastic bands like you see on mitten straps clipped to the d ring.
Same Idea as Hedgehogs but not the same in execution and not patented, they could also be replaced when worn unlike Hedgehogs adaptation.
What do you think?

The blade profile for the 2 and 10 are the same except for the thumb ramp. If you have a 7 laying around then the thumb ramp profile is exactly the same and in the same position.

Dangerous road to wonder down.

How is it any different than 3 different companies all making plasma tvs? They all had to use different ways to make the same tech, until the patent ran down, but they could all still do it legally and ethically.
I dont want to rip anyone off, but seriously can one guy just lay claim to any attempt to elastic the straps ?
If I am out of line I would be happy to back down once convinced.

SWEET!! I would Love to get the Piggyback module. Have a BK7 and Bk11 that would be sweet togother. Whenever you get finished with them, I would love to order one. FOR SURE. Email me

You can patent your own unique design, and I have several, but not every single nut and bolt unless you are manufacturing the nuts and bolts too.
BG's modular is completely different in design than the hedgy scout. You are not going to be patenting a bungee cord available at any craft or fabric store on the keeper since there is nothing new or unique there, nor was hedgy the first to incorporate it.

That was my thinking too Sky.
Plus I like my idea because the bungee straps could be removed and replaced easily my way.

Thanks man, appreciate it. Fitting a BK10 to this sheath platform should be as simple as cutting the inner wedge different then.
