Monster Chopper that I can take to Hell and Back Knife

For the best compromise of efficiency, weight and comfort , Busse B11. Also squarely in your price range with a nice sheath.

Since the B10 release there are a bunch of B11's popping up on the exchange.

I second the choice of the B11. It has a great weight to chopping ability and is a good all rounder.

I'd get a custom with that kind of money. Culberson, Koyote, Breeden, Gossman... If it needs to be production there are too many options to choose from. You could get a Junglas, there is multiple knives from Busse, Tops, Condor, Ka-bar...

yea that...or have one made from CPM 3v instead of S7 and get alot better cutting performance with little loss in toughness

3v doesn't have enough advantage in edge retention in a blade like this for my wallet to justify the substantial jump in price. :)

Man, this is exactly what I was looking for. I would have not even thought of the different options you guys have suggested. I thought that I was there with a decision, but that is not the case. I really like all that everyone has posted. This is a great site!

Where can I get more information on the Justin Gingrich-Ranger Knives Triple SIX?

I love CPM steels but for toughness, S7 being an impact resistant steel is hard to beat. It's tough as hell.

You're right Scott. I haven't even begun to stress that blade out. It has gone through all kinds of wood and metals and the edge barely rolls even when chopping aluminum pipe. The tip has punched hundreds of holes and just looks polished.

Just in case it hasn't been said:

Smatchet.

Walks Away Laughing....

Also: Grayman.

Check out C3 knives as well... as soon as I can afford it, hes making me a 15" 3V golok! Thats 15" blade!

Less than $450 to boot..
