No worries! I’ve put oil on my micarta handles and they are fine. Like jb said you can wash it in soap and water and that won’t do anything to them except make them look dry. I’ve used meltonian shoe cream polish on my vantage pro brown micarta to darken the color and it looks great! That’s the good thing about micarta is that it’s impervious to oil, water and a bunch of chemicals so you’re doing great. On a side note, I still haven’t received any confirmation but I called Buck and they said it has shipped. It hasn’t arrived yet so now the anticipation builds. Lol. Ps, that’s a nice looking vantage! So I oiled it, and of course oil got on the micarta..... Looked splotchy.
I took the clip off, and oiled the rest of it.
There. Little darker.
I dunno, maybe oil isn't the thing to put on micarta, but it's my knife so.
No more worries about that.
I like the way micarta wears anyway.

Yes that’s the unpolished micarta. In time it will smooth out and have more color but they are nice and grippy texture. I can’t wait till mine arrives!I've a bunch of micarta knives.
This one seems different. Maybe as if it's not polished..... it just seems more porous.
It looks great!
I'm not really worried about it. I guess i was typing/thinking out loud.....
Thanks Guys.
The entire 100 series except the 124 gets micarta and s35vnThat does sound like the same micarta on the Maverick. I wish Buck would use more of it. I think its great.
Micarta varies a lot. The micarta on the Maverick is different than that on any of my other Bucks. The entire 100 series except the 124 gets micarta and s35vn
Got my Vantage yesterday too. Love it. The four scale screws protrude a little too far into the knife cavity, but they are not touching the blade. Centering is great, and action is smooth. Almost a perfect Vantage, except for those four screws.
This micarta is excellent. I wish Buck would do the 300 series with micarta. It would be great to see a Spitfire option in the custom department with micarta as well.
Mine is the same regarding the four screws. I checked my other Vantages, and the only ones that have the screws protruding into the knife cavity are my two micarta Mavericks...
As far as the custom department goes, the Vantage seems to be a bit more popular with only 41 left for sale, compared to 59 left of last months Spitfire BOTM offering.
It would be nice if Buck added the Vantage to custom shop models![]()
It’s a one handed knife. Definitely more popular than a lockback.Mine is the same regarding the four screws. I checked my other Vantages, and the only ones that have the screws protruding into the knife cavity are my two micarta Mavericks...

and an xl version....3.5" or bit bigger blade. I never leave alone a chance to push for that xl bigger versionAgreed, Steve. I have a good-sized Vantage collection, and the only other one that has the screws protruding into the blade cavity is my SK Maverick.
And I'm definitely with you in adding the Vantage to the Custom Shop. Would be easy as it is just a matter of blade steel and handle inserts.
Perhaps offer Cerakote and AUTO options to the Vantage as well?
Still waiting for mine to get here or even move to the next location !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
