Hi,
The micarta feels great in hand . Beautiful knife. I really like it.
I got mine.
If I ever figure out how to open the box, I'll post a pic.
Stupid but true.
Might have to resort to a knifeIf I ever figure out how to open the box, I'll post a pic.
nope. my couple havent shipped yet.Has anyone received their Feb. BOTM yet? Mine is sitting in a PO Box at my local PO, will be picking it up when we go out later today. Has anybody ordered multiples? There are fewer Feb. models left for sale than the Jan. model.
Got mine. This is a very nice knife. Has some of the same issues as other vantages, of course. My lockup is ~3/4 it's stiff to unlock. Not terrible, but takes more effort than I'd like to move it over.
Action is stiff. Lube may help. Polishing washers may help. Loosening pivot will likely help and probably negatively impact the centering. The good news is that it has the best detent of any Vantage I've owned.
I would trade the detent for a little less stiffness. I like all Vantages, but at this price the action should really be better and more consistent. When it was $27 I could live with these issues. For a $120 knife, not so much. I'm guessing the biggest issue is one of tolerances, but not sure. I know getting the tolerances better costs money.
Looks good either way. Once it got spotted your only choice was to keep the leopard look or oil the whole thing. So I oiled it, and of course oil got on the micarta..... Looked splotchy.
I took the clip off, and oiled the rest of it.
There. Little darker.
I dunno, maybe oil isn't the thing to put on micarta, but it's my knife so.
No more worries about that.
I like the way micarta wears anyway.

looks good either way. you can wash and scrub micarta clean. do it all the time on the scales of my Buck mesa. look like they did before hand dirt and skin oils and other grime and mess and such. either way works though. So I oiled it, and of course oil got on the micarta..... Looked splotchy.
