Mora needs to pay more attention to their quality control nowadays! It's gettingworse

Oh I know that--I even stock one of those models in my store. ;)

They do not make that exact model now. I'll see if I can find a model on the web that's similar and post it here. I don't have it handy right now. :)

Edit: This is the closest thing to it I can pull up. Mine is a K.J. Eriksson, but the pommel cap, guard (minus the damage), and sheath are nearly the same. The blade on mine is shorter and of a more typical "Mora-like" profile, and the pommel is affixed by a pommel nut that screws onto the tang, rather than riveted as in this example.

Not even close. That looks nothing like the picture I posted. Thanks for trying, though! :p

I'm aware of that more premium piece...it's just I wish they made a couple of pieces similar to the one I posted, which I know they don't. They USED to, but the market probably evaporated, which is why they don't anymore. I just love the little extra details, though, and the sheath was excellent--too bad it got ruined! :o

I still LOVE what they put out presently, though. The Companion is a new favorite of mine. Not only is the knife nice--the sheath is too! :D:thumbup:

You guys are poking fun, but what if a bear attacks and that 5mm is the added blade length a fellow needs to nick the brute's heart?
I agree with the OP. Mora needs to pay more attention. Look at what happened to mine. They turned all kinds of funny colors!

That one is stock, actually. It's a premium version they make.

My old Opinel was better than my new one. My micrometer, microscope, and stethoscope all confirmed my suspicions. I don't care if it cost 19.00, I WANT PERFECTION...

I found the opposite to be true , my new one is better than the old .

I bought a mora clipper , beat it thru a bit of kindling , OK , well kinda a lot of kindling ... or more I spose .. and I inspected the edge with my jewelers thingo that makes stuff look big , and .. the blade has 2 lil chips , one you can see with the naked eye even ...

Im gunna buy more moras tho . Seriously good little knife for the $ , I do not believe I have found anything to come close to it in fact for the same price .

Im not a Mora fanboi , I bought my first one last week , grabbed a mixed bag of goodies , svord opinel mora and a RAT1 ... love these cheapo knives that actualy do what they sposed to do .

erm...unless you are being sarcastic...carbon blades develop a patina over time, which is a good thing. It helps prevent rust!

i'm probably better off playing guess that tune :).

that's good to hear about the companion, i have one enroute to my house from a certain knife company named after a dinosaur ;). i'll post a pic in this thread.

Please do! :D That new sheath design they have is pretty fantastic, actually. I know a lot of folks typically say "great knife, crappy sheath" when it comes to Moras, but this one is better than Kydex if you ask me!

i got this mora companion yesterday (from baryonyx knives) , excellent knife with great fit/finish.

The e-mail address should appear on our web page far down to the right on every page. It is info@moraofsweden.se if anyone can not find it.

Regarding the blade lenght, it has been 115mm some years ago, but nowdays it is 109mm with no tolerance specified. The reason for making the blade shorter (e.g. blade is put longer into the handle) is that some users had the blade tip coming out of the sheath. I´m sad to say that we forgot to put new info regarding lenght on our webpage. Regarding the "uneven grinding" the measur has a tolerance of ±1mm in production. As it has very little effect on performance we might let this be wider from time to time. The knives you are showing on picture is produced more than 5 years ago when "Mora of Sweden" logo were introduced. Nowdays production has a "MORAKNIV" logo.

We (Mora of Sweden) like very much to have contact with users and consumers as that is a very important source for input to future modells and development issues.
As from today we have an user account on Bladeforums (this account = Morakniv) to try to respond to Mora-issues as fast as possible.

Whoa! They found this thread. Very cool. Welcome to Bladeforums. Thanks for caring enough to make great knives, better.

Great to see you here ... I've acquired all my Moras in last couple years, have about 8, all "MoraKniv" from fillet to traditional to modern style, love them all, keep up the good work!

It's my new favorite Mora. Full-length tang, smooth rubber handle (unlike the checking found on the clipper) and a vastly improved sheath.

Wow great to see Mora with a pressence on the board. Now they just need to get a Mora manufacturer forum up and running on here. I already created a fan group a while back.

Exactly. These aren't $150 knives to be inspected for anything but basic function.

My Kansbol was $100 that should cover an inspection but hey, it's ok to miss something. I'm sure they will be happy to address that when I email today. But yes that is the thing I have a Mora basic that is absolutely amazing for $15au. And a $100 Kansbol with an uneven grind near the tip
