Moran Auction

Nice pics Stacy! That is a great pic of Bill , looks like a very Happy Man , you can almost see the contentment in his eyes and face. That old boy must have carried a staff with him wherever he went cause he sure had a pile of them. You weren't kidding when you said there was a trailer of steel either were you? :) Neat looking ( as in cool ) shop too , "old school" if I don't say so myself  Thanks for taking the time out for all this Stacy

Hey Stacy, sorry to resurrect this thread like this, but I haven't heard anything more about the steel from Mr. Moran's auction... did I miss my chance?

I just wanted to thank Stacy for the Bill Moran memorabilia. Most guys would have profited from a package like this, but this offering speaks highly of Stacy's character, and knifemakers as a group.

woohoo i got mine also today i realy have to learn better forging befoe i will work with this tho

Looks like the Post Office a town or two over is a little more efficient! I'll be like a kid waiting for his secret decoder ring or X-Ray Specs to arrive until I see mine :D

Thanks Stacy, Got my package today This small piece of Bill's life spent here on earth really means a lot to me. If I can ever return the act of kindness, please let me know.

Just make something you are proud of from it.

It felt like being Santa, when I rolled that hand truck full of boxes into the post office Thursday morning.

If you had admired a piece of wood,or needed a foot of steel,Bill would have said,"Here, you can have this piece." That was the way he was. I can only hope to be as kind.

Do something nice for someone else - there is no return needed to me.
("Pay it Forward ",was one of my favorite movies. If you never saw it,go rent it. BTW - It is a great movie to impress your gal as to how sensitive you are, also.)
Stacy

Got mine today too. Very generous of you. Now to decide what to make. Decisions, decisions. Thanks again.

Hey Stacy,
Nice to see you in NC. (I'm glad I got to see that cigar cutter up close!). Thanks again for the cigar.:D
I noticed you sent along some blade and handle patterns along with your "knife kits", and was wondering if you would send me a set. I would like to try a couple of knives in his style, and patterns of his work would be great to use. My address is 925 Rt.80 - Guilford, CT. - 06437
Thanks
Mace

P.S. That was a great time at the Dixie classic hammer-in. I picked up some cool tips.

So, as I sit at my office, eating lunch and hoping that "Christmas in October" will be today, I began to think about what I will make from Stacy's most generous gift. It certainly won't be for a while as I don't believe my skills are yet up to a level that material with such a fine provenance deserves, but I should at least get thinking.

I think I'd like to do something in Bill's style as a proper tribute. Problem is that I've seen precious few pictures of his work. Can folks here help me find some pictures of Bill Moran's work so that I can have them around to serve as insipration?
