Most Heavy Duty Folder on the Planet?

as far as production knives go. Strider has it. and just incase you do manage to break it, they fix it..... can't beat that. A lot of warranties are over rated, but a good one for a tool you know your going to use hard is something awesome! I speak from experience on this as well. Customs..... Jake Hoback, Jeremy Robertson, anything designed by Alphahunter (chad). there are tons of options out there. Demko AD-10 is pretty awesome, I have one on order

I have a Strider SMF. I don't have any pure custom knives. The closest I have is a Sniper Bladeworks DH. I guess you could call that semi-custom.

Wow. This is a bigger task then I thought it would be. I was hoping I might get an objective answer where everyone posts the same knife as if it was widely accepted that 'X' knife is THE heaviest duty folder on the planet. But hey, lots of knives to choose from leaves lots of room for more and more and more collecting. And I really appreciate all your guys' help. Keep em' commin! I think as of now, I think the most heavy duty folder in existence might be the MKT Praetorian Ti, but I also have my eyes on the other knives that I have my eyes on and ones that are being suggested in this thread. So, keep the suggestions commin'. Thanks guys. Insane respect. What does everyone think of the Extreme Ratio RAO? I think it's pretty sick but I'm a bit skeptical. Just give me the run down and let me know what's up with that thing.

I'd be careful getting the Medford.
Their edge geometry sucks,
They do not cut well at all, which is the primary purpose of a knife.

The responses vary because there's a lot of very heavy duty folders on the market right now, and just about all people will not have used all of those to point-of-failure, so as to provide their experience of which lasted the longest under their usage. Note that individual usage varies, so certain folders may be more suitable for specific tasks.

If you want an objective answer based solely on first principles, look for: a) thickest blade; b) thickest titanium scales (count by the thinnest point, including relief cuts); and c) strongest pivot.

I would rank the Dalibor Regulus high on my list, certainly up there with the Grayman Satu. I have yet to have the privilege of handling a Praetorian Ti.

Hope this helps!

How about saving yourself tons of money and getting a Buck 110. I mean, if you're really just looking for a tough knife, and not bragging rights, the Buck is perfect. I don't know what you intend to do with your knife, but I do know that the Buck 110 has been all over the world on the hip of more military men, hunters, construction workers and fishermen than just about any other knife. If it stands up to the rigors that these type of people put it through, it's probably safe to say it can handle whatever you throw at it.

Picked this one up last week, probably the toughest knife on the planet. So far I haven't managed to cut anything with it though...

Cool neck knife bro

I agree with Moses2792796--there's just no way to beat that one when the only criteria you care about is toughness. I hear they even anneal it for extra resistance to breakage under EXTREME conditions. :D

In all seriousness bear in mind that the most heavy duty folder on the planet is also far from the best cutter on the planet.

It's not a folder but it's great for batoning!

I have my suspicions that the strongest folders ever made are all residing in safes right now. Nobody actually uses them because they eventually figure out that a 3/8" steel tanto-shaped wedge isn't very good for cutting anything, and that a 9 ounce weight in your pocket gets old really fast.

But to answer the original question: I once owned a WDZ folder that was seriously overbuilt. That's why I sold it. And the reason people are saying Demko is because of the lock: Demko makes what is widely regarded as the strongest locking system ever designed for a folder.

Pics for comparison. Of these I would say the Strider SMF, Hinderer XM-18 3.5", Grayman SATU and ZT300.

Why don't you ask the Guy who does all the test-cutting of blades with different steels? Jim Ankerson.
He's famous on this forum; has tons of YouTube videos, has tested many, many blade-steels.
HIS heavy-duty reco is a Demko AD-10. Tells me all I need to know.

Demko AD-10 is great, but for the money...and that counts too,...check out the Spyderco TUFF...4-inch blade in CPM 3v steel, about the best you can do. $200. I have one. It's a safe queen, but when the zombies get here...
For heavy-duty knives with a shorter (3") blade, but still 4mm thick, try the Three Sisters Forge Beast or the Grayman Dua. I have both and love them. I'm carrying one of them now, instead of my Sebenza.

It's already been mentioned once or twice, but the most heavy duty folder on the planet is without a doubt the William Woods TiTAN. 5.3" blade which is 0.25" thick, 12.6" OAL, and it's Ti slabs are 0.225" thick. This thing is MASSIVE! The TiTAN 2 are going to be a little smaller, but I'm seriously excited about it.

I got my eyes on that MKT Praetorian Ti. 1200 bucks of pure heavy duty madness. It's definitely one of my top three contenders.

$1200 for a production/midtech is ridiculous.
Not to mention the edge geometry is pretty terrible.
I'm just saying, they seem kinda mall ninja to me.
I'm sorry, but that is just crazy. especially considering his other Praetorians are half that.

I dont get the cost either really 1200$ for something that is majorly cnc/machined theres almost no handwork to my knowledge put into them
as for the edge geometry you can ask greg to profile however you want it to cut paper but his intentions are for it to pierce skulls bones and whatnot so he doesnt make it cut paper unless you ask cuz he thinks its retarded to put it nicely
I think its a good knife just not for 1200$ I can get something a lot more custom for that
If he would build a praetorian t for me w/ things I like for instance different bladesteel without a big charge then i would maybe actually pick 1 up for like 800ish but still when you think about what you can get for 800 its a big difference which is y i went with a custom willumsen instead or a bodega etc

Wow no one has said cold steel yet. You can't beat a triad lock for the price. And aus 8 can take a lot of abuse without breaking.

And the reason people are saying Demko is because of the lock: Demko makes what is widely regarded as the strongest locking system ever designed for a folder.

Exactly, a 3/8-in blade thickness and a massive titanium framelock don't mean jack to me... it's still a framelock and that means I'll almost never consider it the toughest, especially if it has a cutout.

The lock is the main part I care about when it comes to "heavy duty", a blade only has to be so thick...

What about the Extrema Ratio RAO? I haven't seen any good reviews on it. It looks like a possible contender. So, any insight on this knife?
