Moving away from folders towards fixed blades

I like a 2.5-3.5" FB for EDC. I still carry a folder, usually a cheap one for the quick tasks, but prefer to have a fixed on my person for real cutting stuff. Tinkered with a few over the years. I like a longer/fuller handle, but am trying to come around to smaller handled stuff, too!

2.75" CPM 20CV blade on this one, but a longer handle.

I really like the looks of that one, very handy, nicely done

I got one of Gary W. Graley Gary W. Graley rejects for front pocket carry that can also go on a belt. An MKM David C Anderson design - the Tango 2 reverse tanto in Magnacut and red burlap micarta. The magnetic flap can go on the outside of a pocket (or wrap around a belt with the sheath held under the belt), and that flap holds the sheath in place. Plus the sheath is ambidextrous.

Let me expand on your term ‘rejects’, there was nothing wrong at all with that knife, it really is a case of ’it’s not you, it’s me’ as the knife design and sheath were both very well done, I am just super picky and found the handle to be a bit too narrow for my grip is all.
I am glad that it found a good home in the DocJekl DocJekl International Museum of Edged Weapons, or as it's commonly called, I.M.E.W. (I think his cat named it that ;) )

This one is seeing a lot of pocket time, the slim sheath allows the knife to slide into my left front pocket easily and doesn't extend very far out of the pocket so it's not very noticeable.

This one arrived a little while ago, diminutive in size but for it's size it's quite capable. It's a Griffin Co Scout Medic with a well made kydex sheath.
If I had input for a re-design I would ask that the stock thickness be moved down from .098" to .090" and the point be lowered slightly and the sharpening notch be removed so you don't lose any edge length or have it hang up on material during use.
Otherwise, it works, blade steel is S35vn and the blade length is 1.65" overall at 5"

ESEE Izula for me these days. Everything I need and nothing I don’t.

The Izula is perfectly capable on its own, but I would’ve gotten the Izula II if only I researched more lol. The extra length on the handle would’ve been useful while not adding too much pocket footprint.

I agree with you about the "sharpening notch" on knives, I find them a nuisance especially when cutting things like cling wrap. I do like a finger choil, though, unless I'm misunderstanding the terminology.

You know, David Landry at David Mary Custom could make you a knife to your specifications. You could draw up a design with measurements, and send it to him with a little bit of money (not stupid low or crazy high dollar), and get exactly what you want.

That is a very attractive knife and I am guessing that it was made by T Taz ?
Wouldn’t mind having one like that too

So G2’s search continues, we are enjoying the journey with him, curious what will come close to making the Final Cut…..before he sells it and continues the journey. 😀 it is fun to see what will come up next.
