MT02P – Mule Team Fixed Blade featuring CPM®-M4

I ordered one today and they were still available. I never get in quick enough to get cool knives on this site, woo hoo!

How many mules were made? How many have been sold? Im holding out because I cant spare the funds right now... :( I envy everyone that recieved theirs already.

Big THANK YOU to the folks at Spyderco. I picked up my Mule 2 on Saturday. According to the post office notification it arrived on Wednesday, which makes it just 13 days to reach me in South Africa :D

Thanks guys!!!!

Put mine on the Edge-Pro for about 45 minutes, and polished to 1 micron with CBN paste. Will now split hairs!:p:thumbup:

But still looking for a place to put Kraton scales on it and a good horizontal carry kydex sheath.

I added 1/4" CF scales to this one.

I did the world's worst cord wrap on mine because I was impatient to use it. Anyway I must not have cleaned it well or I put it in the sheath wet. It had a number of discolorations on it when I looked at it today for the first time in awhile. Is this normal for this type of steel?

Cuts great in any event :)

I just went to the Spyderco factory store and it looks like all of the M4 Mules are sold out. Does that mean the next version will be on the way shortly?

Pretty much, yeah. It is a high speed tool steel which doesn't even pretend to be stainless. Mine picked up some surface rust even quicker than my 52100 Mule did.

Sal has been trying to space these out a bit to let our finances recover. I don't expect to see the next one until February or March at the earliest. I also expect the next one to be even more expensive due to the extreme wear resistence of the S90V steel.

The Factory Seconds for the CPM-M4 Mules are available now though, you can find them here... http://spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=323

And yablanowitz is correct, we're trying to space them out a bit. So the next in line will be a little while.

Hi Tazkristi,is Yablanowitz also correct about it going to be even more expensive than theCPM M4 mule?,hope not:).

Hi Kristi:

Just how 'second' are these seconds?

Uneven grinds on the tang would be much more of a flaw for amateur builders like me than would be something like a scuff in the finish or a nick on the spine or something like that.

Are they still flat enough that kitchen knife mechanics like me can build a decent knife with them?

Raj,
I don't know, we don't have a price yet. Sorry.

We're pretty picky, the Factory Seconds are still usable and still fit within the spirit of the Mule Team.

Thanks.

Might just be this knife left the factory with a better edge than some other knives I have but boy it zips right through paracord, cardboard and the few other things I have cut with it much more easily than say a Native I have that has seen little use.
