I did the world's worst cord wrap on mine because I was impatient to use it. Anyway I must not have cleaned it well or I put it in the sheath wet. It had a number of discolorations on it when I looked at it today for the first time in awhile. Is this normal for this type of steel?
Cuts great in any event![]()
I just went to the Spyderco factory store and it looks like all of the M4 Mules are sold out. Does that mean the next version will be on the way shortly?

The Factory Seconds for the CPM-M4 Mules are available now though, you can find them here... http://spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=323
And yablanowitz is correct, we're trying to space them out a bit. So the next in line will be a little while.

Hi Tazkristi,is Yablanowitz also correct about it going to be even more expensive than theCPM M4 mule?,hope not.
Hi Kristi:
Just how 'second' are these seconds?
Uneven grinds on the tang would be much more of a flaw for amateur builders like me than would be something like a scuff in the finish or a nick on the spine or something like that.
Are they still flat enough that kitchen knife mechanics like me can build a decent knife with them?
Pretty much, yeah. It is a high speed tool steel which doesn't even pretend to be stainless. Mine picked up some surface rust even quicker than my 52100 Mule did.
