Multiples of the same model?

I have only purchased three multiples: Spyderco Tenacious, Kershaw Leek and Kershaw Blur.

Although, I am tempted to add an additional Spyderco Manix.

Yep. Sage's are similar but not the same at all. That Sage 4 doesn't really fit in with the others. I'll do you a favor and take it off your hands. :) I have three each of the Sage and the Chaparral. And 2-3 of a few others just to get into different steels. Spyderco temps us with all their their variations. None we really need after one version, but many we want.
Thanks for your kind offer on the Sage 4. That was actually my first one, and you're right, it's the least similar of all the Sages. I like them all, but that one especially.

I've considered selling the collection, but would only do so as an entire lot. All or nothing at all, as they say. ;)

I have 3 zt0350s, 3 zt0452s, 3 zt0450s, 2 zt0801s, 2 zt0562s, 2 zt0566s, 2 knockouts and 5 blurs.....

I totally get it man, I have 4 ZT 0200’s and 8 0452’s, different colors and stuff but I do have some doubles like the G-10 and the regular version

Multiples or identicals?

The Southard was my first grail knife, and still one of my favorites. I had to get a backup.

While I dont have any identical CRK’s, there are a few multiples in there:

2 large 21’s
2 small 21’s
2 Umnumzaan
2 wood
2 micarta
2 tanto

I’m trying to justify a large Inkosi insigo to increase my multiples.

I've done that many times. Turned out to be folly. I always figured I'd have one to use and one to keep as a backup if the first one failed...

The problem is I only bother to buy knives that are so robust my kids will be passing them down to their kids, and then maybe them down to their kids.

I don't own multiples of anything anymore. I don't need "backups" of things that will most likely never need to be backed up.

Funny I should see this post this morning. I haven't before 2 weeks ago been tempted to collect multiples of the same till I got my first Lambs Foot traditional in stag... Now I want one in horn, wood and bone. Yesterday I ordered a second Buck 110, only this one is a drop point in carbon steel with light oak scales. Next after a couple more Lambs Feets will be the Buck 110 in s30v.

The only duplicates I own is a certain SAK model that was discontinued and they are backups to use when I need them.

I do own the same model with different furniture in a few knives that I like or have liked. The Spyderco Endura is one... one plain and the other fully serrated. Some traditionals of same model with different scales.

I have 3 Case Trappers. One in water buffalo which was expensive and 2 Wallyworld specials.

My wife and I both have a Spyderco Ladybug as well. I also have 2 Cold Steel Recon 1’s.... serrated and non.

Not a fan of having backups or duplicates really.

Multiples of the same model? That's silly.
Entirely.

Are Barlow's from different manufacturers considered multiples of the same? Then yesssss. :D

But do still have multiples of the same brand of models also. Some on purpose, and others, well, just kind of happened.

Have a few Blur's. Two Gnomes. A bunch of inexpensive Barlow's that I hand out as gifts to pretty much anyone I have some sort of knife discussion with (non knife people). A number of Rough Rider traditional's of the same design, but different finishes/colors/materials (Trappers, Stockmen, Barlows, Sunfish, Elephant Toes, Peanuts, Canoes, etc. ).

Also usually have multiples of the Spyderco Honey Bee's around as I've used them as gifts turned into Tie Tacks. Even non-knife people I've known have enjoyed wearing a knife when dressed up. Who knew? :)

Do Opinels count? I have multiples of Nos.6,7, and 10.

Okapi Biltong. One is two many. A dozen is not enough.

Griptilian. Lost one, ordered a replacement immediately, found the missing knife the next day. Gave it to a son-in-law.

Benchmade Mini-Barrage. Lost my first one, could only find black blade to replace it. Ultimately found the one I wanted. It sat on my shelf until my junkie stepson took it, pawned it to buy junk. Eventually he fessed up, said Pawn America gave him $80 for it. Still waiting for thhe replacement.

Kershaw Leek. Had the stainless one, my son gave me the disco model for a b’day. It’s a keeper, natch.

RR Improved Muskrat. This knife isn’t going to be available forever, and I like to carry it. I hope two will suffice.

Mercator. Black K55k, and a brass Otter.

RR Dog Bone Jack, one smooth bone, one sawcut. I guess this is a novelty item, with a pocket slip and a dog whistle. At least one is headed for the Cabinet of Curiosities, alongside a 40-million-year-old turtle coprolite, and a small ampoule containing a riding buddy’s ashes.

Mora Companion. One’s too many; a dozen is not enough.

Mora 612. Ditto.

Svord Mini Peasant.

Folks that like traditional knives tend not to think of "duplicates" as there are often so many different scales available.

After using a model for a while and if it becomes obvious I like the knife I usually pick up at least one more. This has been helpful in making sure I get to keep using that particular tool.

A few examples of multiples I enjoy:

Gayle Bradley 1 and 2 - 2 of each
Kershaw Link and Dividend - 4 versions
Kershaw Blur - 4 versions
Schrade 55 - 2
Ontario SP53 - 2
Ontario Woodsman -5160/420ss
Kershaw Leek, Skyline, and Clash - 2 of each
Spyderco PM2 - 4 versions
Spyderco Delica and Endura - 3 versions if each
KaBar Turok - 2
Cold Steel A Lawman - 3 versions
Buck 110 and 112 - 3 versions of each
Buck 119 - 3
Opinel, SAK, Moras - a lot more than I should
KaBar Becker’s —— NEED MORE !!!!!

Just to name a few....
