My 1000th post winner announced SEE POST 93

Put one in the hat for me, that would cover a new IRJ when they come out. Thanks from all for being so generous.
What I like most about the forum is two things, I can't narrow it down to one.
First, there's nothing about traditional knives that I can't ask and get several answers to. There's no way to learn nowadays like the internet, and BF is it.
Second, I can look at some of the most beautiful and appealing knives to be had, and it doesn't cost me a cent. It fits my budget. :)

Congrats on 1000, I am going to be there soon to. I'm in thanks!

What I like most.. I think it has to be the people. None of whom I have met, but I feel I know them.

I'm in as well!

What do I like most about The Porch? Two things: the enormous generosity of the participants here, and the incredible amount I've been able to learn since I've started hanging around. Because of the people here I've found my favorite knife pattern (sowbelly stockman) and my favorite maker (GEC, of course.) Now if I could just get my favorite maker to produce my favorite pattern, I'd be set for life!

Thanks so much for the opportunity!

Congrats on the 1k, Randy. Thanks to both you and Derrick for a fantastic giveaway! It's really hard to pick one best thing about this place. The knowledge and historical info, the camaraderie, Carl's stories, the generosity, and the beautiful photos are a tough group of things to pick from. Each one on it's own would be reason enough to keep coming back. When combined, they make for a very unique place to hangout online. No matter what else I may be looking for when I log in to BF, I have to stop by the Traditional Forum to see what's going on with the folks here.

Congrats Randy on first K posts, very generous GAW. This is not an entry as most of the money will probably go on shipping cost if I win.

Mike

Randy,
congratulations! 1000 posts are many...yet if you hang here long enough, there will be more milestones on your path ;)
What I like about the porch?
It allows me to share some talk and receive education on one of my great hobbies.
But mostly, because through the porch I got to meet many awesome people.
Sometimes it's like a safe haven. Sometimes it's just a place for chats and jokes.
But it's always the friendliest corner of the internet.
Please consider me in.

Fausto

Congrats on the 1000th post! The Porch is a great place because of the members' willingness to share their appreciation and knowledge of Traditional Knives. Sadly, I am not eligible for the giveaway. But thanks to everyone for making this such an enjoyable spot.

Congrats, and thank you for all those 1,000 contributions. I just checked my own "post counter" and it said 777. Yes, triple 7's, so I jumped in right now. Pls count me in on this milestone celebratory GAW.
The porch is a wonderful place where we can converse with others, as well as ourself, if that makes sense. It's a place to let your mind wonder, with like minded people adding to the current topic. I'm not a seasoned veteran here, so I mostly soak up answers to questions or thoughts. Every now and then I like to think I have contributed back, just a little bit, to this virtual coference call. What's great is that "the porch" can visually meet everyone's expectation, since it is real, but not so tangible. What I mean is, to me it's the regulars sitting around a woodstove in the corner of a gunshop, sipping coffee and pulling knives out of pockets to show off to your friends, or debate about a given pattern being better with a clip or a spear main.
To another member, it could be taking place at a friends house, or at a local watering hole. It is real, but not. The discussions are real, but we are in our own preferred "porch".

Anyhow, I've rambled enough.

Take care,
Josh

Thanks Randy for a wonderful GAW!! Please count me in! As to what I like about the porch.....the generosity, but even more so, the spreading of knowledge and the civility we all show to each other. Something the politicians can learn from.

Best,
Peter

Congrats on reaching 1K!

I'm in.

I love coming here because I always learn something new from people who are willing to share their knowledge. That, and I also get to lust over traditional patterns that I don't own (yet).

1k is a milestone landing for sure, congrats!

The Porch, folks here are just that, folks, down to earth bunch of people you can rely on for many things, sharing a story with you, or an interest in the same model knife that you like, answering the deluge of questions that often appear and help those that are lost for it. And just a nice reflection to an age gone by, although we strive to keep it alive, right here on the porch ;)

Thanks sir,
G2

I'm in if it's ok with you. I'm getting back into BF after taking a bit of a hiatus while finishing school and starting a career. What I like best about the porch is that it is, bar none, the friendliest place I've encountered on the internet. With all the crap on the web, it's nice to be able to share my interests with others in a little oasis of genuine good feeling.

Thanks for the chance!

Frosty

I'm in...
What I like best? The cake, ice cream, health care package, free dance lessons, transportation expenses, and so much more. But it's mostly the people, photos and stories. Oh yeah, and the conventions... who can forget the conventions? Like the time we had makin music together in Hawaii!!! :D:)

Randy, congratulations on your 1000 post, thanks to you and Derrick for this awesome GAW. It's you guys and folks like you from all over the world that make the porch a great place to hang out.

Congrats! Not an entry but what I like best is the helpful, carrying attitude seen so often here. A rare find in the vast internet world.

Wow congratulations!! I am in, I am a relative newb here on the porch, I got bit by the GEC bug a year ago and fell in love with a lot of the beautiful knife pics here. I have learned a lot about traditional knives and I like to read about/talk to like minded knife nerds to geek out about traditional knives. My wife just doesn't get it. Thanks!

Congrats on 1000, and thanks for the chance at a most gracious and spectacular give-a-way.

I am in. Got 340 here and had an account with KSF for a few years now.

What I like most about the porch is the vast knowledge, warm spirits, gracious welcome and overall coolness of the people here. It's my kind of place, and I have learned so much in the short time I've been here!

Congratulations on the milestone Randy, it's great having you here

Not an entry if you don't mind, already a recipient of your generosity :) I just wanted to say thanks (and thanks to Derrick), and to wish everyone good luck

Look forward to your next 1000 posts Randy

Jack

I don't qualify, just wanted to say congratulations and a thank you for your contributions here.

For me this is a place to relax and learn, swap stories and enjoy an atmosphere that has all but disappeared from modern day life. "The Porch" is such an apt name, whoever coined it was spot on.

O

I'm in. I like the knowledgeable discussions of knives here, especially talk about knives that are actually used for a purpose. Knives that are made for show have no interest; I enjoy the comments from people who actually use their knives
