I'm not sure why this thread is still alive since everything has been hashed and rehashed to infinity.

Even if the buyer was an asshat the seller commited the original sin. That's what suprises me, the defenders seem to be selective about what's important.

Fair enough, Dave H, I can accept that to a greater degree.

No, Oilman, I am not joking, you handle your customers your way, I will handle mine, my way.

I get very, very few complaints, and I try to handle them maturely and responsibly, but sometimes, just sometimes, you have to bring the might of all you have into "correcting" wayward souls.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Oilman, let me throw this out to you, in reference to your comment to Kohai, about not deserving customers.

When I first became a member here, Steven and I did some business, (long story short) I sent him an Email and I acted like a complete ass. He diffused the situation without a single harsh word (better than I would have done, after reading my Email) and the deal worked out perfect, the above quote by Steven is exactly what you get when dealing with him.

I have no problem with Stevens attitude towards those that would do something that would lead him to believe that they were "Butt Nuggets". Be respectful in your dealings with Steven and he will be the same to you. Some people can suffer jerks, cretins and morons; Steven does not appear to me to be one of that kind of people. Wouldn't stop me for a minute in dealing with someone that I consider to have high moral fiber. I have absolutely no doubt that if I did a deal with Steven, things would work out just fine.

But by what you're saying Steven did the RIGHT thing and suffered someone being a butt nugget, he didn't make you pee blood like he stated above. The bad thing about that attitude is who decides who's being a butt nuggett? Suppose you and I do a deal and you ask some questions that I don't think are nessessary, can I now be an asshat to you because I feel that you are wasting my time? And how many companies would you do biz with if their policy said that if you behaved in a mannor that they don't like that they will somehow get revenge on you. Sounds rather petty doesn't it? And who would you rather do biz with, someone who is willing to take the time to treat you correctly or someone who is going to try to get revenge on you for any percieved (real or imagined) butt nuggettry? And then taken to the extreme what if the seller was super sensitive? Then you have to walk on eggshells when dealing with them or they will go the revenge route. Personally I'd rather not take the risk of someone turning into a nuggett after a misunderstanding or whatnot.

And don't get me wrong, some people need to be slapped from time to time. I would think they would be the minority though as it should take someone going above and beyond in their nuggettry to get the revenge bit.

my .02,

oil

ps. After re-reading Steven's post I think I may have misunderstood it. He states that he does the right thing first and then, if the other person is a jerk, he goes caveman on them. I would have only added that the 'jerk' would have to get pretty extreme about it before the other coarse of action was needed.

I'd like to know, and maybe this was addressed, do other examples of this knife made by Brad have latches that work when the knives are open? If so, then this knife is certainly defective and Brad should fix it.
Most BD's timebomb's have his exclusive craplatch installed. Getting a latch to fit is not an easy task. I, as the current owner of this knife, knew this from the start, not from the seller unfortunately, but from my knowledge of the knife in question. I told him I was aware of latch issuse pertaining to that knife and wanted it anyway for a project. I had a vision for this knife, a light at the end of the timebomb tunnel. I now see the light.

In my eyes, it was a $1500 knife marked down to $750. great deal for material used. I immediately removed, and tossed the latch, and put the knife back in the mail off to Terry Guinn to work his magic. Thanks Terry. A mere $105 later I have this...

Brad's one-of-a-king damasteel timebomb, sporting Terry's excelusive rare earth magnet latch and artsy fartsy spacers.

all for ... $855.00 NO, WAIT... after Robert/seller saw my new prized purchase being dragged through the mud, he felt bad and sent me a $100 gift certificate to his shop. That's a free surefire flashlight to be exact. I was already satisfied, and he did not need to do this. Thanks again Robert.

Sooo as I see it, I have a knife worth every bit of $1500 for about $750.

It looks like if the original poster had done his homework like braundc did that he would have ended up with a heck of a knife for a great price.

Exactly Oilman, that's the point I didn't make clear in my previous post. I don't think initially, I was being a butt nugget, but I was very rude.

He tried to make me happy, so to speak, if I had continued to be an ass.......I would have been peeing blood.

I am kicking myself for not burying the hatchet fully with Bob over our little exchange in this thing - since then i bought a BRKT special order thru him, he was the consumate dealer thruout the process. Bob, you've got my full apology for my getting as cranked up as i did here.
