Found this in the mail this morning. First thing I noted was that it was extremely LIGHT. It quite literally weighs nothing in my hand. Second thing was that the factory edge was actually pretty sharp and didn't give me the urge to sharpen the knife more before using it. It's not hair whittling, but it push cuts paper pretty well(most factory edges can only slice it).

The compression lock is new to me and will probably take some time to get used to, but it seems fairly simple. It looks like a liner lock with the release on the opposite end of the handles, which has an interesting result of keeping your finger out of the way when closing the knife. There are some little pieces of carbon fiber sticking out on the sharp corners on the inside of the handle, but nothing that can't be fixed with a gentle touch of sandpaper, and it isn't noticeable when gripping the knife. The ball detent is extra strong and makes accidental opening in the pocket near impossible.

But enough about that, onto the pictures(sorry, but my camera sucks):

That is a great looking knife. I have the first Para and it is the only Spyderco I would not consider selling. I have gotten away from Spyderco for a couple of reasons but this knife may bring me back. Now just to find one.
Congrata!!!

Agreed, this knife is awesome. I cannot believe the F&F on this thing is flawless.

How much does it weigh? I wonder if the CF is lighter than G-10, and by how much if it is. (I assume the scales are the same thickness in both materials.)

My Para2 weighs 3.6 oz/102 gm with G-10 scales. This is on a digital postal scale with the clip removed. Clip and 3 screws add 5 gm to that.

It's peel ply carbon fiber. I'm not sure what the exact weight is, but it's definitely lighter than any G-10 knife I've ever had. Won't really be able to compare until I get the CTS-20CP version of the Para2, as I never got the S30V version. Perhaps not quite as light as my FFG Endura 4, but very close.

S90V and carbon fiber handle sound nice on paper , but in reality it means nothing
The various YouTube videos showing people cutting up old tires with their Spyderco Military Carbon Fiber and S90V would disagree with you. The tiny weight on my hand from the super light material disagrees with you. The guy on eBay who put his S90V para2 for auction and will probably make at least a $60 profit out of it would heartily disagree with you.

Whether something is truly overpriced or not really depends on how much people are willing to pay for it. I would think the XM-18 is grossly overpriced at $600, but given that people regularly pay that price at every opportunity for one, I would have to assume that it is not overpriced.

I got 3.6 oz on my digital scales. It's a damn nice knife, I'm glad I got one.

Thanks. Assuming that our digital scales are both accurate, the weight difference between our knives is 5-6 grams, the weight of the clip and screws.

People tend to think, "Carbon fiber composite = very light weight." This comes from the fact that carbon fiber can replace much denser or bulkier materials and have the same strength and stiffness at less weight. In knife handles, however, it is more of a cool factor, since the thinner scales possible with CF would be uncomfortable to use.

Based on comparison of some other Spydercos in G10 and CF, literally only a couple of grams.
