My Grail has arrived!(Para2 in S90V and CBF)

Nice knife , but ridiculously overpriced

Hi Vicious,

I don't know if it was intended to be so, but your statement is quite insulting. What are your qualifications for making such a statement? Are you a materials expert? A manufacturing consultant, pehaps?

I don't think the knife is overpriced for what is delivered. Perhaps you just can't afford it? I can't afford many things, but it would be naive to say that they are overpriced simply because they are beyond my means.

What Spyderco knives in S90V or Carbon Fiber have you owned and used?

Back on subject.

Hi Noctis,

You have a beautiful and limited piece. Congrats.

I am carrying one today and I'm quite proud of Eric's design improvements and the knifemakers in our factory that built this piece.

Enjoy.

Oh, and to those who have ordered from KC as I have. I sent an email out last week and got this response.

Good morning,
I recently did a pre-pay on a couple of Spyderco Paramilitary's. I was wondering if you had any type of ETA as to when they might be in your possession and able to ship? I have heard several dates ranging from a few weeks to late December. Just curious. Thanks for your help.

Response:

That's the same information we've been hearing as well.

Thank you,

Alexandra

Then I got this the other day:

PLEASE NOTE: We are still waiting for your backordered item/items. When ALL items are ready to ship, we will ship your entire order in one shipment.

We will email you with any updates as they become available.

Thanks LIL, I haven't received the backordered email today. It's very cool that they do that though. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Overall, in hand, lock styles aside, this CF S90V Para 2 may be one of the nicest Spydercos I have ever had the pleasure to hold. The handle, blade and overall size and weight of this knife are outstanding.

Good job Spyderco!

I can't disagree, but I'm going to throw an alternate hypothesis into the ring. I don't think the Military or Manix 2 S90V sprints give up anything to the Para2 in terms of materials, workmanship or suitability for tough and extended cutting. The ergos obviously differ, but this is a great series. I have an S90V Mule without scales and some peelply CF downstairs...I need to get the Mule into the club.

Not a problem I'm sure you are as excited about getting your as I am.

I'm thinking about installing a permanent bench beside the mailbox.

After using it at work, I can say that this knife has a permanently reserved spot in my pocket:thumbup:. It cuts through cardboard like warm butter, though there was one particularly stubborn piece that was proving difficult, the choil helped to provide a firm grip so I could muscle through without sacrificing control. Corrosion resistance is pretty good as the blade wasn't bothered with cutting produce and scoffed at my fingerprints.

I think the thing I like best is definitely the light weight of the knife, which makes it excellent to EDC. Having both the Para2 and my Lionsteel SR-1 in one pocket weighed noticeably less than my old combo of BM 710-1 and ZT 0301.

How does S90V compare to the M390 in your experience?

You carry two knives in one pocket? I just have to know your thinking there. I carry two knives occasionally, but never in the same pocket.

He prob meant that his old combo separately weighed less than his new combo in one pocket...think about it, the 301 weighs what? Like 8+ oz and add a BM 710 which is another 4-6oz? Thus the para 2 @ 3.6 and a Lionsteel at 7.something oz. would be considerably less weight. I'm not sure if that was a miss statement, but he may actually carry them both in one pocket...a little awkward for two knives of such size.

Anyway, I'm super excited about receiving mine. In response to liveitloud, and anyone else commenting on Knifecenter:

They are a great dealer! When I order from them, I get any purchases the next day on in stock items. However, in my experience, they are no good for preorders unless you preorder like the first day that preordering is available. They never place a limit on the number of preorders for the knives they have available and you end up waiting forever, and not getting one. I recently cancelled my order when I found one of they sexy ladies on a different dealer's site. Spyderco sprint runs are definitely the way to go...the manix in carpenters steel was what got me into Spyderco! The reg models are also good, but if you can find a sprint (aside from just the uniqueness of having one, they have better materials and styles.) pick it up!

 Sal, Eric, and all you other Gents at Spyderco, thanks for making such great user friendly everyday usefulness type of products! 6 out of 7 days, i have a Spyderco in my pocket! The other day is usually a Buck 110 modded with a pocket clip and thumbstud.

Spydercos are really a notch above every other full production company in my opinion...

- (aside from Chris Reeve, Lionsteel, and all those other semi custom brands.)

This will be my holy grail forever!!

until I get a lefty seb. :)

I certainly hope that doesn't end up being the case or I will be super pissed. I have tied up almost 400 bucks on these 2 knives and if I miss the boat because they don't manage their pre-orders, I'm going to have a major problem.

It all depends on when you preordered. The people who preordered the middle of October and the beginning of November should be ok...many of those guys have already received their knives, but us blokes who waited until the middle of November or later might get screwed. I hope you get yours! Be on the lookout for these blades at other dealers though.
