My ideal carry knife...

Doesn't that sound like a 35 Churchill?

It's quite close. But I'm not a fan of 1095, and I'd prefer a slightly shorter frame and a slightly larger sheepsfoot. Currently the 2015 forum knife by CSC monopolizes pocket time over my Churchill. And I expect the same will be true of the 2018 forum knife by Buck. Even though it's not ideal, I can make do with the larger size of those knives as long as I get my stainless steel.

I guess that's why they make so many different patterns. The 2015 CSC fits your description as does a 33 Conductor in stainless. I prefer the stouter clip points just in case I run into a tough PB&J sandwich.

In line with everything else in my brain pan, I don't have a favorite of anything. Song, color, author, music group, food, guitar, shotgun, fishing rod, or knife. Lots of things I like, just nothing that gets called my "favorite". My head just doesn't work in those forms of absolutes. The advantage of this, is since I don't have a favorite knife, I can keep buying them in the hopes of one day finding one! ;) Currently, I'm thinking a Case teardrop might be "the one".

The benchmade proper and lionsteel roundhead both look neat. I almost feel obligated to get a roundhead for the price and steel but to much of a modern look...something about it i dont love.

3 3/8" closed, to fit well into the watch pocket.
Clip point.
Pinchable, pull about 5, maybe 4.
Jigged bone, deep and random divots.
Wide handle for more to grip, like the Enzo PK70. Really comfortable to hold.
CPM 154 or maybe 52100. Steel liners.
Flat ground, blade optimized for slicing.
Now this next one takes it into the realm of fantasy if we are talking about traditionals: can easily disassemble the knife for cleaning. Then I wouldn't have to worry so much about stuff like juice from peeling a fruit getting into the pivot. But I'd rather worry than carry a modern that disassembles.

Another favourite idea: a friction folder made of top notch materials. Below a couple I have. A Capucin knife (without the blade slot, it is useless) with the materials of the MCusta would be sweet.

My ideal knife would be a large fixed blade hunting knife like Tarzan the Ape Man carried--maybe something like a Buck 119. However, unless one is hunting or camping, it may not be practical. I love the trapper pattern: great size and heft, but a little too heavy and bulky for dress pants (which I have to wear frequently). Used to carry small peanut-sized knives, but got tired of carrying such small knives. Usually grab my Case medium stockman (6318) when I go anywhere, regardless of what I am wearing. Bigger than the peanut, but not too conspicuous, and I love the three blades in a compact package.

You're welcome JD! Hope it's even better than you anticipate and that you enjoy it for a long, long time.

Ideal carry knife...
About 3.5", stainless for ease of cleaning, spear blade for food and general purpose, small secondary blade for rough stuff or detail work, beer opener, scales that are resistant to chipping when eventually dropped, cheap to replace and inconspicuous in foreign countries or big cities.
Pretty sure I just descibed a victorinox alox electrician.

There's no fun in that, so a small clip point single blade with steel liners and bolsters, mammoth covers and super steel that will develop a patina (m4 comes to mind).

Pretty sure those two would cover most of my bases.

My ideal carry knife would be a shortened GEC #48 single blade. If they would make that knife 3-1/4" to 3-1/2", it would be my perfect watch pocket carry.

I have something special coming...

I've said it a few times on this forum, I always thought that a 3-1/2" single blade slim trapper would be a perfect watch pocket carry knife. It would be slim and elegant looking with a very useful blade shape and length. Such a knife would disappear in the watch pocket, but that long, slim, pointy blade would be up to just about any mundane task that I encounter during my average day. I just didn't think they existed until redsparrow redsparrow sent me a message about a special knife that he'd been keeping an eye on. I really appreciate him passing the information along to me so that I could purchase what I think might be an as-close-to-perfect "carry knife" (for me). I received the knife in the mail this afternoon and couldn't wait to share it with all of you. I'll post a picture here and several more in the "new addition" thread.

The rare single blade Queen #51...
