scott says the chestnut needs to be stablised...

...Yep it sure does Dave...I use the ol' foodsaver vacuum thingie and Minwax High Performance Wood Hardener trick...Works great for almost any porous material...

Buck_110 - I haven't seen any that old...The oldest I've taken apart were a pair of two-pin/two-line 110's... :p

How much older are the "faux pinned" 110's???

 ...hmmm...I have an inverted stamp 2 liner with the brass rocker and it has the 2 rivets but they are rivets with a pronounced head on them...they don't appear to have been ground flush with the scales at all...when the kid gets home with her camera I'll try to post a pic...

...Buck_110...It wouldn't match up with new production as it only has 2 rivets and the rocker ...I'll try to get a pic up...

...Buck_110...This one does not have the seperate brass spacer...It has the integral 2 piece brass bolster with no spacer...This is I believe a late sixties 110...The kid borrowed her camera out...  .

...I just found a few crappy pics but they do show the heads on the rivets are intact. One of 'em also shows the integral rear bolster pretty well...Gonna upload 'em to photobucket...BRB...

...Okay...Here's a pic of the stamp side showing the inverted 2 line stamp and the intact rivets...

...Here's one of the opposite side...again the intact rivets are apparent...

...Here's one showing the integral 2 piece rear bolster...

...Took these before I had a tripod and used the light from the monitor so they kine suck...LOL...

I looked at 3 or 4 inverted 2 liners and they wern't rivets. smooth to the surface of the wood and were scattered around.. Maybe pics later if still an interest.

It did take going back to inverted 2 liners to find them. Interesting for sure.. Just a quick glance at those few.. didnt check more.

...I did forgot to add that the "rocker rivet" on the pictured knife is indeed brass and NOT steel...

Well, poly glue does a good job, especially if they scuffed the surfaces of the liner. The poly would have no problem sticking to any sort of wood. You know, that might be something to try. A beater knife, skinner, camp knife whatever and only use poly, no pins or screws. I figure as long as the steel is scuffed, that poly will stick for good, until you drop it in the fire!!
